872954 2010-04-04 23:41:00 A question on behalf of a mate.

He has just purchased a shiny new Compaq Laptop with Win7 installed.

However, when he tries to Minimise a programme to the bottom tray, it just disappears.

Not being familiar with Win7 I’m of no help and I’ve never struck it in XP or previous Windows versions.

As always any help appreciated. :thanks

872955 2010-04-04 23:55:00 Is that any program? When you said "disappear", is it as if the program has been closed? Renmoo (66)
872956 2010-04-04 23:57:00 It doesnt disappear, it is selectable on the program icon on the LH side of the taskbar (where Quicklaunch was), you will notice when you've minimised the window there will be a highlighted box(es) around the running program icon, hover the mouse pointer over this and you'll see your windows as thumbnails, hold the pointer over the window you want and it will maximise, left click it to keep it maximised. feersumendjinn (64)
872957 2010-04-05 00:16:00 Another possibility if it's now that feersumenjinn said, is that some programs have a setting to "hide when minimised". Outlook is one example. Those applications might seem to disappear when they are minimised. Depending on the program, there will be an options or settings pane where you can change ths.
cheers

872958 2010-04-05 00:46:00 I think with 7 it minimises down to the task bar behind the icon of the program nedkelly (9059)

Thats what its meant to do. Its the same with Xp, just that XP had the name of the program, bigger Icon at the bottom, and no preview Both OS's (www.imagef1.net.nz)

872960 2010-04-05 01:08:00 It will be in the "super bar" that replaces the old task bar. Running apps will have a "box" around them and when you move your mouse underneath a glowing light will follow the cursor. if multiple windows are open such as explorer then hover your mouse above the icon and a row or preview windows will come up, you can click the "x" in the top right corner to close the window or click the one yuo want to open to bring it back The Error Guy (14052)

That was where they were alright.

I've never seen Win7 so I was personally of no help but he followed the instructions over the phone and all is now revealed.
