| 787446 | 2009-06-30 09:32:00 | A friend has one of these used import Nissan's, and the navigation system (aside from being in Japanese) is lacking a CD /?/ DVD disc, so will not operate. Has anyone had any success with one of these systems with respect to NZ maps, and hopefully getting the thing to communicate in English - or Macedonian - or Turkish? He can handle any of those, but his Japanese is sketchy. The unit is apparently made by Xanavi, which is part - owned by Nissan. Nissan's web site is not a gem of clarity for assistance and he is loath to visit a Nissan Dealer lest he have to forsake his firstborn and also his wallet. Reading the buttons, switches etc in the car in Japanese can be solved by new labels with help from a Japanese speaking friend, but if there is no easy and economical way to update the thing, it looks like he will just have a natty place to stick Post-it notes. Personally I am not to enthusiastic about a system that needs the disk in at all times to operate. (Maybe because I am a Tomtom fanboy.) Thanks IA |

You had to look at a website to make that call!!! :groan: :p ;) Just look at the cars!!! Build quality is crap - can't even make a boot lock cover that always covers the lock. Have a look next time - they're almost always stuck up in the air, twisted to one side. Gotta give them kudos for their engines though - the big ones.... |
