I think the last one I bought a few years ago cost somewhere around $12. I will need 6 just to cover the local areas of tramping interest. |

No i don't work for Linz or DOC but one of the local cavers here does and supplied us all with the documents for distribution to any who were interested Thanks for the offer Gary, but for my purposes, there is enough info on the Linz and FMC websites. If they are going to be around the $9 mark each, then that is not too bad. I have been told that the maps have some "special DOC routes" marked on them, and DOC is upset. I'm not sure what is meant by that, but DOC have some funny ideas at times. Like a mate of mine that came down from Baldy to Mitre Flats hut in the Tararuas a few years ago, and was told by a DOC man "You are not supposed to use that route, we have closed it" They do things like that, try to remove tracks/routes that have been used since time immemorial, by taking them off the park maps and removing any signs. |

| 788545 | 2009-08-28 06:14:00 | I received the Etrex H high sensitivity GPS hand held this morning. After setting it up, first tests in the garden show that it is indeed very much more sensitive than the older 12 channel Etrex. I got 9 satellites straight away, whereas the older unit could only get 4 to 5 after a lot of thinking about it. The altitude readings were also more consistent and close to the known value for my location. Next tests will be in thick bush and steep narrow bush filled gullies preferably at known map locations |

| 788547 | 2009-08-28 08:36:00 | I got it from Downunder Pilot shop for $179 delivered, but I see that their price is now $189 free delivery. www.downunderpilotshop.co.nz They matched the price advertised at GunCity website: www.guncity.co.nz but Guncity price does not include delivery, so I suspect Downunder maybe lost a bit in their deal with me. They were out of stock and had to re order, perhaps the price had gone up a bit. Anyway I had good service from them, and would go there again. |
