1451264 2018-07-07 06:04:00 This is in chat because I do NOT have an issue.

I regularly rang my brothers number 8421xxx
When he was on copper. When he switched to wireless.

Recently I rang a bunch of vets, butchers etc in hawkes Bay to check prices etc.

I ring friends all over the country. Husband rings his mate in Aussie. He rings family around the country.

I have been on fibre (with Spark) for 13 months now, it's been great. Dead reliable, phone great, net great. Terrific.

So my brother gets hooked up on fibre with Voyager and his phone doesn't work.
They told him it had to be plugged into modem, he did, he could ring out.

Then no-one could ring in.
That was to be fixed. Then wasn't. Then was.
Except some people can now ring him, some can't including me.

Voyager tell him, oh actually you can plug ph into ont instead. Uhuh. (Beside the point actually...)

So ever since, Voyager have said it's MY fault, MY line, Sparks fault, Sparks ports, blah blah blah.

Spark have completely disconnected him and he is fully on Voyagers service.

I did all this damn phoning, in fact I rang some random shops etc in his area off his exchange.
Lots of sorry, I have wrong number, when they answered.
I rang some numbers starting with 8421, just to make sure it's off his exchange.

I can ring anyone, anywhere except him.

So he goes back and back and back to Voyager.

Voyager then ring ME and say oh we understand you have a problem.
We want you to ring x number.

NO. It is NOT my problem, I am NOT your customer and my LINE is fine.

You fix my brothers phone. If it is not YOUR equipment, then you go to Chorus and find out what is with the lines, boxes on the road, and exchanges that are owned by Chorus.

And BTW yes I can ring these stupid numbers. Of course I can. Just not my brothers!!!!

Jeez, if that was my provider I'd be swapping to someone else. I would expect them to fix the issue and not blame everyone else on the planet for it instead.

It's like saying oh I can't get x website, but can get any others....oh it must be your PC.

Right.

1451266 2018-07-08 21:32:00 Now they say my brother didn't log a fault (he has, he forwarded me the ticket number), and they persist in saying Spark didn't release his number, they have.

He's going back to Spark now.

Sometimes cheaper is not better, for sure.

1451267 2018-07-08 22:19:00 That's a weird one for sure. It can be very tough getting past the script reading first layer of support for any provider these days, not really their fault (the people I mean not the companies - totally their fault) but frustrating to deal with people who don't know answers to more technical problems.

I'd have been interested to see if you coordinated a call whether it's actually going through but not triggering ringing and he could answer it if timed right or if it's not going through at all. Did it seem like the call worked and just wasn't answered from your end?
If there were telephone exchange involved I might have a shot at figuring it out, but with these VOIP type phones I have no chance.

.

Well Spark rang us both.
Spark sorted it.
Spark gave us both a months credit. I guess he has to have the credit on cellphone, as he ceased to have a spark account on 29th June.

Voyager did nothing except bill him extra for number porting and stop talking to us both.

Sigh....well at least it works now.

1451270 2018-07-09 21:27:00 A mate? No I worked with him once . He's overseas being spiritual these days .

Nah, it's sorted, and my brother will decided where and when he'll go . . . .
