1450971 2018-06-27 00:31:00 Have just heard "Blowing in the Wind" on the radio, a song written and sung (?) by Bob Dylan.

He should have stuck to song writing as his singing is abysmal. Peter, Paul and Mary did a much better job of that song.

I would have thought that he would make more money out of writing songs rather than trying to sing them.

He had a fairly big following but I could never see what they saw in him.:waughh:

1450972 2018-06-27 00:34:00 He sounds much worse these days. If you're brave search Youtube for him live in 2018. Beav (17610)
1450973 2018-06-27 03:15:00 many of todays Pop/rock vocalists arnt good singers , despite how they sound on the records.
Lip syncing during 'live' concerts seems to somehow be OK now, because the singer cant sing in tune out of the studio, or cant hit the high notes when singing live .

Good example was the NZ National anthem recently butchered , possibly ruining that singers career .

Anyway, the song in total is more important than how its sung :)
I'll happily listen to B.Dylan rather than most cover versions of his songs .

1450974 2018-06-27 06:01:00 Dylan has a "different to most" style. I don't mind it. Better than most of the rubbish they call music from the last decade. His songwriting is up there with the greats!

1450975 2018-06-27 08:05:00 Only Dylan could do The Hurricane, although I don't like all his music but at least it is music unlike anything basically from 1989 onwards gary67 (56)
1450976 2018-06-27 09:35:00 I've often said the same (write the music but certainly can't sing) of Leonard Cohen. And more recently of Ed Sheeran, James Blunt ...

I touched on this in a recent post (McCartney), if their songs are still on somebody's personal playlist in 60 years time, then surely they're good. But in McCartney's case, I won't be persuaded to retract that

1450977 2018-06-27 09:50:00 Blunt, I'm out on him, but that Andrea Bocelli agreed to perform with Ed Sheeran is an endorsement of Sheeran's musical prowess in itself ...

1450978 2018-06-27 19:05:00 Yeah, I'm generally of the opinion there's nothing worse than rap, but then again, I'd forgotten about Dylans voice when I came to that conclusion.

I can't find any merit to the guy. A wheezing asthmatic sounds more musical than that joker.

1450980 2018-06-28 00:16:00 Here's a brilliant song written by Sting who is a fair singer but this time sung by a really good singer, Bob Dylan would be jealous of this song:
