These are the people, usually teachers or polytech tutors that call the box on your desk, or under it, the CPU, or Central Processing Unit.

I try to explain to them that the CPU is the main chip on the motherboard.

But what is a good generic term for the whole computer, including the case and all the parts.
Is desktop the best term?
Or just the computor?

That particular box is much like a submarine, definitely much, much better if it doesn't have Windows.
