1450614 2018-06-16 18:25:00 In this day and age, we are bombarded with things that just don't seem to 'wash' . . . . as it were . . . . in our minds or sense of logic as being, well, possible . I'm not talking about the current trend of calling something that goes against one's personal ideals, as either FAKE or REAL or is our way to hide or obfuscate what you know to be a lie .

OK - where am I going with this?

Certainly not politically, although I think the question today will tread into the credo of things-political: I'm talking about . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

THE US MOON LANDINGS
Fake News or Real News?

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Better yet - where were YOU when it happened? Got any stories to tell?

Let's entertain some ideas, feelings and theories . . . . . . . . . . . . . all that you believe to be relevant and/or full-blown skeptical . Where do YOU stand?

I have my theories and some actual experience with this subject, and I'll hold out for a while on my input . Let's hear your thoughts . OK?

To start off, I present a YouTube vid which you should all be able to see, even in Upsidedown Land . . . . . . but be sure to let your fingers do the talking afterward . . . . . .

. youtube . com/watch?v=p9FtQCtlyJU" target="_blank">www . youtube . com

Crazy people will be allowed to answer . . . . . so there's that . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :thanks

1450615 2018-06-16 21:32:00 Well despite being the oldest person at my work I don't remember the moon landings, I was born in 67. I find it plausible that it happened, much more plausible than people actually voting for Donald Duck to be be president but supposedly that happened too since he is now ensconced in the White house gary67 (56)
1450616 2018-06-16 21:43:00 Donald Duck ensconced in the White house

LOL!

America is the weirdest place IMO . Land of contrasts . . .

The most religious nation on the planet, yet the most immoral too at the same time .

The constitution going on about all men are equal etc yet the way they treat other races .

The American Dream yet the extreme contrast between rich and poor .

Democracy, yet they don't vote count .

I could go on .

And they started the whole fake news, conspiracy, did this or that happen stuff . . . .

Weird .

1450617 2018-06-16 22:17:00 I believe the moon landings happened, solely because I don't think the number of people that would have been involved in any conspiracy would have all kept their silence. allblack (6574)

OK - see though, this turned political and that's not the intent of this post . I can understand not being old enough or remembering though . Thanks .

Again - a diatribe on things not required for this particular line of questioning . . . . but thanks anyway .

I believe the moon landings happened, solely because I don't think the number of people that would have been involved in any conspiracy would have all kept their silence .

This I can work with - for general cred (mine) I was out in the Pacific for the splashdown of quite a number of splashdowns of various manned shots, moon shots and an occasional satellite recovery .

There's a lot of interesting reasoning that you bring to the table . Kudos .

We (the shipmates and I on the ship) were assigned as primary recovery vessel on The Moonshot/Moonwalk splashdown and recovery . The ship I was on was particularly fast - knot-wise - and we had the responsibility to get away from the Russian subs and 'fishing boats' that surrounded us just 12 hours or so before we were told to scramble at full speed to a new rendezvous point .

We had 'faked' being on station for the splashdown just 1/2 day before - hugging to another ship that was posted as primary recovery vessel . We sat bobbing around at a slow speed until the scramble order . We left the Russians and newspaper yachts and such in the dust and went where they couldn't follow us fast enough .

I was on Bridge Watch with the Captain, the XO and several senior officers, all uniquely in the same place, at the same time .

President Nixon was also on board . It was THAT important --- and I was there .

Curious?

I have some things to tell - but let's see if we get any other comments that are close to the original question --- first .

You asked....

OK, moon specifically.
So assume America wanted to make it all up for what reason I don't know, you think Russia would have co-operated? I think not.
Just another flat earth type nutter theory.

I don't actually remember any of it, still toddling about the house then...

1450620 2018-06-17 04:59:00 I'm too young to remember it either . As far as the possibility of it being fake goes, NASA did eventually and fairly comprehensively answer all the supposed evidence against it but of course to some that's all fake as well .
Never mind the fact the best Hollywood could do at the time didn't come close to looking realistic .

Something that I notice, and maybe it's my own prejudices showing, is that there are very few conspiracy theorists that come across as credible and the few that do rarely commit themselves completely .

Or to quote someone better with words than me .

1450621 2018-06-17 05:42:00 I remember listening to the broadcast at primary school, and it being on the TV news later.
My mother refused to believe they did it, a position she maintained until the day she died.
I don't agree, I am certain they did it, and good on them.

1450622 2018-06-17 06:10:00 I'll let this cook overnight - it's 23:00 and a few cents right now and I'll likely finish folding my clothes and go to bed soon.

Yes --- SurferJoe does his own laundry.

either waiting for the school bus , or at school.
I remember a kid at the bus stop had a portable radio & was listening to it. Possibly not in real time , must have been a delay as they converted the audio to be heard upside down ?
~Video~ footage for TV was picked up from Aus by the NZ Air Force, they sent one of our jets (Canberra ?) over to pick it up
My dad bought all us kids the newspaper as a keepsake, I still have it. Must have a read, just to have a look at the old ad's & old stories in that issue :)

Have you seen the 1 man moon lander the Russians built. So crude its scary, looks like something from 1950
Cosmonauts have said they are happy their attempt got scrapped , as their lander was so dangerous .

comedy vid, but has the best arguements against it all being faked
