1449180 2018-05-03 02:38:00 Updated my 2 Win10 Updates - they went through fairly smoothly, however,

Trying to copy some files from PC 2 to PC1 , but no where I could 'see' my other computer. It completely breaks by home network sharing.

How do I get it to work again?

Checked and reset my Computer Names, Workgroup Name, etc. restarted PCs, nothing works.

Righ-click a folder and found that the 'Share' option is more there!

Can someone help?

1449181 2018-05-03 03:20:00 Where you using "homegroup" or the good ol standard networking thats been around for years ?

If homegroup --- its GONE - Left the building, its been removed (damn good job to as it was no good for older OS's or linux and MAC Computers.)

If using Homegroup, you need to setup std networking. In the control panel / networking and Sharing, Advanced ( top left) Make sure network Discovery is ON, Printer and File Sharing -ON under All Networks- Password Protected sharing OFF Unless you want to have to enter user/password every time.

Make sure also under This Computer / ( right click /Properties) Workgroup, that all Computers are on the same workgroup Name ( works better if they are).

I've done folder sharing before (somewhere in this forum) but if help is needed I can re do it.

One other thing you can check-- In search-- Type in Services - open - Navigate to Function Discovery Resource Publication -- Make sure it set to Automatic & running. (reboot may be required for it to work)

1449182 2018-05-03 03:40:00 This is what I have set up and used :

1. Each Computer has a unique Name.
2. The all shared the same Workgroup Name.
3. Network discovery is ON
4. File and Printer sharing is ON
5. Password protected sharing is OFF

1449183 2018-05-03 03:49:00 It didn't get set to Public network did it? I know my new install started as Public. linw (53)
1449184 2018-05-03 03:51:00 Had the same prob.

You have to run services.msc go to Function Discovery Resource Publication service.

Change it to automatic then start the service. Didn't have to restart here. After I changed it to automatic, they appeared

Just did it on 2 of these (just did a clean install on them). And both appear in network.

Network worked after installing the 1803 update. But, it doesnt work with a clean install of Win 10 1803

1449185 2018-05-03 03:58:00 After a few reboots,

PC1 can 'see' PC2 and access shared folders (folders were shared before the update) but, PC2 cannot 'see' PC1

Compared the network settings side by site, all settings are OK.

Will try Speedy's recommendations later.
