It is not an optional extra from any chemist. Not the question. Yes, we know!! Yes he used to, before we found the free chemist. You pay so much then it kicks in..... With insulin, testers, inhalers, glucagon, aspirin, bp pills, it adds up. Free is better. As in free from the start, none of this wait until you reach the limit then free stuff. |

No wonder my mum sticks with supermarket meat. Insane prices. Sigh.....i found this last time we left Aks.....housing might be cheaper elsewhere, other things sure are not. |

You may be in for a shock on fuel prices down there too, although you will be skipping the regional fuel tax, which will off-set things. What are your thoughts/feelings about boarding (or flatting) at this stage of life? My older daughter keeps talking about us moving in with her family - perhaps both families selling up and buying a bigger home together. My wife and I find it difficult to get our heads around the loss of independence. How are you and hubby facing up to the issues of living with someone else? Perhaps this is too personal to discuss in 'public'? Ok with that if that is how you feel! |

| 1450680 | 2018-06-21 21:13:00 | Fuel prices not too bad...seen it. Moving. Well friend is going to sell their place, her dad sell his, pool the money/mortgage and buy a house with granny flat so they can look after him. Separate unit so not in their face but still there. That's a good idea I think. Me. Well, my brother is losing his sight and has Dupuytren's contracture . He won't be able to live on his own. he's keen for us to come. My mum? Well, set in her ways and a PITA to live with. It would be like living in North Korea, with her. Already started on us, cats, washing, lawn mowing etc etc. She goes on and on and on too. Not keen on That!! But despite her stubbornness, she won't be able to do much soon, she can't do a lot now. So how would that work? My brother can't help her. On the plus side, the place is huge, masses of storage, outside has double garage with workbenches and cupboards, a carport, 2 other sheds. Inside heaps of cupboards, 4 bdrms, 2 huge. And it's not particle board!!! So eventually it will be OK. Now? Well it's causing stress......to say the least. |

| 1450681 | 2018-06-21 23:07:00 | Sorry, regarding fuel prices I got myself banjaxed and was thinking Invergiggle instead of Napier. We are both fond of the Bay, but it is too hot and dry for us in the summer. Your reasons for moving in with bro make perfect sense, but I didn't understand an aged P came with the deal... Still, what are families for if not to look after each other when time and circumstances demand it? Good luck. |
