What I believe is that the first moon landing was faked - fooled a lot of people who actually thought their monitors were showing a real moon walk . I DO believe that subsequent moon landings were 100% real - but this one was not . Remember that the whole NASA group was under the gun from JFK's assignment of getting the US to the moon in one decade . That was the break point for me - what with the things I saw and remember from that day: NO sonic booms . Did we all have selective deafness at the same time? NO arching contrail from re-entry . I've got nothing here . IFF pings on an aircraft that we did not see nor hear . That we hurried to a new - unable-to-assess-by-pretty-much-anyone-location - we were a very fast converted cruiser hull 'Jeep Carrier' with an "A Deck" . This was NOT a last moment - 'Oops, we miscalculate the recovery zone" move! Not even close! It just LOOKED that way --- Uh huh . We - on a ship originally NOT going to be anything but a television and radio/communications relay ship - were not assigned as the recovery vessel this time . The crew on my ship was totally vetted to see if anyone was a likely danger to 'WHO"? - which turned out to be President Nixon . (I passed muster somehow) A few guys left the ship for Midway Island in the week or so before the splashdown . They were gone until a few weeks after we got to Hawaii with the capsule now in the LPH8's elevator deck . The astronauts were sent from our ship into biological isolation/confinement aboard the Princeton, and they had walked amongst us - and THEN put in isolation - odd, wot? Where we were now the primary recovery when the actual primary recovery ship - with a copy of Air Force 1 helicopter was on deck - was a ruse . Yeah - we had Nixon and Air Force 1 on OUR ship, not the 'other' ship . . . . which IIRC was The USS Princeton /LPH8 - I think . . When Nixon arrived, there were three helicopters who played touch-n-go antics on both of our ships - so that anyone looking couldn't tell which helicopter actually had Nixon on it . We had three helicopter TnGs on our helipad that day - kind of a carnival shell game to fool everyone - including us . They all had the same Air Force 1 markings on them too . The Eight Bells and Boatswain's pipe were smoking for all the ringing and blowing they did each time a helicopter touched down - only to take off again . Both ships were at "Dress Ship" and "Man Siderails" and "Attention On Deck" orders for over two hours with all this shuffling back-and-forth nonsense . I watched all of this from my lofty perch - three decks about the main deck ---> standing with The Captain, the XO and other assorted officers and Secret Service guys . On a good-side of this diatribe of mine . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I was the only guy who had access to Sick Bay and with my Corpsman friend (he later committed suicide) got the Secret Service and most of the Marines anti-seasick Dramamine pills . They thanked me profusely! I had a lunch-dessert with President Nixon, at my table in the mess deck one afternoon . He and I talked about a lot of things - perhaps I'll post some of that dialog later on . I got to call my (deceased) wife back in California on the White House Red Phone . I talked to her for over an hour - and when I was done, the Secret Service guy who brought me the phone because Nixon sent it to my quarters - told me that my call probably cost the taxpayers over $300,000 . 00 . Kewl! Right now I have to repair another lawnmower for a neighbor and I have a welding job out in a field behind me here for a John Deere header that broke a driveshaft . I'll try to wait out the rain for a bit - I don't like arc welding in the rain . . . at all! .	SurferJoe46 (51)

1450638	2018-06-19 00:26:00	I was 22 and at home with my family when the moon landing HAPPENED. NZ had a delayed TV coverage of the event, and we had heard the news on the radio prior to that. My son in law has worked with NASA for a number of years, I have visited the Kennedy Space Center and the Launch Pads at Cape Canaveral. I have also been on the USS Yorktown based in Charleston SC, which had been used as a moonshot capsule recovery vessel during the Apollo Missions. Sorry Joe, but I don’t really have much time for your conspiracy theories, so much evidence to prove that it did happen, and nothing whatsoever to convince me otherwise. LL. ��	lakewoodlady (103)
