1449240 2018-05-10 01:49:00 My experience has been the opposite with xtra since the migration from Yahoo to SMX. When xtra was with Yahoo, my account received anything between 1 and 10 spam emails a day (actual spam, not genuine emails filed as spam) into my spam folder, and since they switched to SMX (however long ago that was), I can only recall receiving three spammy emails in total, and they were all delivered to my inbox instead of the spam folder. Basically spam is now a non-issue for me. The change was literally overnight when my account got migrated.

What I HAVE noticed is that many genuine emails get delivered to my spam folder now, which is very annoying. The chief culprits are: emails from Netflix (some, not all), some emails from the AA (especially if about petrol discounts), some from Countdown, and all emails from the payroll company my organisation use (this is especially annoying). I've heard a number of people are not receiving some genuine emails at all (spam folder or inbox), and they have no way of knowing this unless the sender contacts them about the lack of response. I'm only aware of not receiving one genuine email, but who knows, it may be more.

SMX recently introduced a "thumbs up" system on their webmail interface to mark emails as "not spam", but aside from move it to the inbox, it appears to do NOTHING in terms of algorithms and learning what is and isn't spam. I repeatedly give the thumbs up to all the above emails and still many go to the spam folder. I've also tried playing around with their filters and rules but that makes no difference either. They haven't worked for me at all. I found Yahoo much better in those respects (even though Yahoo sucked in just about every other way imo).

huh ???
despite YEARS of ongoing issues with yahoo
spam issues : yep alot of people had spam issues with yahoo/xtra as well
mail outages , lots of them
mail slowdowns , slow to connect, slow to download. No one notices just how much faster it is now ??
mail delays of up to 4 days , even xtra to xtra email
hacked a/cs , emails and contacts stolen then sold to spammers crocks and hackers
yahoo denials
issues where is someone also setup email on their phone, yahoo decides just no put that whole email a/c on stop . because it saw 2 things accessing the mail at the same time
issues bad enough that BT dropped them years before xtra
so many ongoing issues that Telecom staff were BANNED from discussing on forums (eg geekzone)

the list goes on.
how quickly we forget

1449243 2018-05-10 09:06:00 I have been using Xtramail for a long, long time , >10 years.

Sure, I did encounter 'some' of those issues mentioned above but not all of them at the same time.

This time, the SPAM issue has been started since day one and no efforts by Spark have been done to reduce the number, so far.

here is the method for reducing your spam (in the vid below)

btw , the reason youre getting all the spam is because your details were stolen from yahoo . You do however have the option of going back to yahoo email .

Free email : get what you pay for . You'll need to move to google if its a big issue .
ISP's dont really care a rats arse about their free email services .
Take a note from what Vodafone did . Voda simply dumped it & told everyone to go to gmail . Could happen at any time with xtra .
Bring back the bubble ?

honestly though , no point complaining about spam on xtra email . They dont care . Free email is just an inconvenience to them
Move to gmail .
:)

there's allways an exception. I did say go to gmail :)
What you are getting with that free email is , is google trawling through all you emails and contacts , adding your personal info to their database .

In fact, 2 gmail a/c's is the way to go. The 2nd one as a trash/dump email a/c, for when websites etc require your email adress before they give access
