.

Hey it has it's good points.
If you removed the traffic, the price of housing and a good 2/3s of the population, it would be fine.

Actually housing has caught up in loads of places, we couldn't afford to buy in heaps of them now....

Tons of beaches, a choice of wild and surfy or calm and family. Bush walks.
You can find anything - shops.
I'll miss my vet, my hairdresser (friend), my doctor - especially her, good docs are hard to find, my favourite Butcher - Khans in Lincoln Rd, so clean, such great CS and so cheap as well.

But hey....

Of course I'll miss granddaughter, she isn't too thrilled....so far it's impossible to visit.

Most of my friends are elsewhere now anyway really, Waikato, Canterbury, one who just died was over Optiki way, one also leaving to go up north somewhere - also moving in with family for the same reasons,
There is one in Havelock North, not exactly round the corner but not too bad considering the lack of traffic.
Far too posh, I'll be in the definitely not posh part of Napier next to the house with MM painted on the side.

1450665 2018-06-18 23:16:00 I always thought Auckland was a lovely place, that got ruined by building a city on it.
But what time I have spent in the suburbs there, which isn't much and only visiting friends, it just seemed like any other NZ city to be honest.
But that's away from all the things you suggested need removing :)

Good luck with the move.

That's all stuffed up now.

Too many migrants, tourists flooding Auk. now, hope they put out the anchors pretty soon.

Flew into Auk. 4 times a year for accounting conferences, for 20 years, then someone had the bright idea, to shift the meetings around the provinces
too bl**dy late then for moi.

Have a brother in Havelock North and nieces' round about the Bay.

So it must be ok piroska.

1450667 2018-06-19 06:53:00 Couple of questions for those in or know of people in the Bay then:

Whos the free chemist?
Husband goes to one here, no fee at all.
Can't afford multiple x $3 or whatever....(My mum goes to nearest, not cheapest)

Cheapest consult vets? MIne here is $50 for consult.

Cheapest butcher? Supermarkets are not cheap. (Where my mum goes so she doesn't know)
For instance my butcher: MInce $8kg, lamb shoulder $9kg, sirloin (Not that I buy it but) $13kg, chicken any part $4.99kg.

1450669 2018-06-20 00:01:00 Never heard of any free chemists in Christchurch or anywhere else for that matter, and the price is $5 an item now, was $3 about two years ago. zqwerty (97)
1450670 2018-06-20 01:16:00 Sorry, I don't know of any free chemists. Have you got a Community Services card? That helps if you use a fair few prescriptions like SWMBO and I do. Manchester Unity Lodge member? Deco City Pharmacy at the bottom of Emerson Street. Discounts to Lodge members.

Don't now about Vets. I think they are all on or about plumbers/electricians rates.

Butchers... Latham St Butchery, McGrath St Butchery, Good reports on those two. Mad Butcher, who my retired butcher mate says they have the best meat in town. (surprised me but we go there now and he is bang on!)

Sorry piroska, best I can do. :)

1450671 2018-06-20 01:58:00 We kind of have a free chemist, I say kind of because theres a scheme that once you get 20 items the rest is free till the following year. Some don't know about it. Trust me with all the prescriptions SWMBO gets (she rattles when she walks) LOL It doesn't take long.

Details prescription-charges (www.health.govt.nz)

1450672 2018-06-20 03:18:00 No. They all have that high user scheme. I mean free.

Local countdown chemist here is $2.50, but husbands one is free, free for 1 item, or tons.

There are a few....mostly maori owned.

I guess maybe Hastings might, will have to ring them all I guess.

1450673 2018-06-20 03:41:00 The charges suggested by Wainui above in #19 - you should get. It is a Government Subsidy - so therefore for all. My husband collected that -and I piggybacked. I don't get enough on my own, so don't get it now.

If you are not getting it - ask some questions. It is not an optional extra from any chemist.
