1448725 2018-04-22 03:50:00 Hi
Can anyone recommend any software or tutorials for taking 2 vids & making a single side by side vid
Not a split screen , a side by side

Ive had a look at some software, but they didnt do what they claimed & is allways a worry about bundled spyware with this sort of software

Dont mind paying $20 or so if needed, but its a one off & not super important so wont be paying $$$$
Its going to be uploaded to youtube, so would YT's editor allow me to do this after uploading ?
Cheers

1448726 2018-04-22 08:31:00 Not to sure if got this right as to what you are wanting, but you can use VLC player (instructions) www.youtube.com

You will end up with this --- (its two episodes of Black Mirror) (( Its some freaky "WTF---OKayyyyyyy" SWMBO wanted to watch)) Shhhh Don't tell her, but its actually quite good :xmouth:

You would need to adjust the screen sizing to suit - then use some sort of screen capture software to "capture" both at the same time. (plenty of free ones about)

Of course having two audios running at the same time would be "interesting" ;) Then upload to YouTube.

This example is Done Via the free capture "Jing" www.techsmith.com

If you watch the link use Firefox or something that still plays flash.(this little bit is 72.4MB)

www.screencast.com The video on the site is a bit "jerky" but it did record smooth locally.

It uploads as flash (SWF) so don't know if YouTube can convert, BUT you could always link to Techsmith :2cents:

BEST part-- ITS ALL FREE and totally bug free :banana.

1448727 2018-04-22 09:11:00 Just adding to the above ( its rough and quick but will give you the idea) -- if its what you want --- Ashampoo SNAP has screen recording. You can get it for free sharewareonsale.com

Heres a quick version it saves it as WMV which You tube can convert /Accept AFAIK. Example ufile.io

1448728 2018-04-23 03:52:00 I was wanting to create a new vid from 2 separate vids side by side & save it.
Ive found some more freeware Vid editors to try, didnt want to spend alot of time trying to find something that works though.

VCDhelp has some options using avisynth etc & custom scripts , but I'm after an easy solution :-)

Mind you ;) this could be like so many other posts ( and some customers) only get half the story as to how or what's required.

Eg-- Is it two videos that HAVE to be in sync with one another, certain actions HAVE to sync ---------- :)

1448730 2018-04-23 11:55:00 What do you mean by not a split screen but side by side?

Sounds like a vertical split screen to me?

You've thrown in many terms, like merge. Which is also known as combining, where one video ends another starts. Add some transition and it can flow into the next video.

If it's not split screen, maybe you want overlay, normally how you see YouTube gamers, where a cam shows their face while the background is their game, however they are only doing desktop recording in this situation but you could record your game, then overlay your video of you narrating it.

Now if it is vertical split screen, then this is two separate videos, side by side. Which is where I am confused by what you actually want.

"taking 2 vids & making a single side by side vid"

one program I tried with split screen option didnt do this properly, it just dumped one vid partly over the other, it was a split screen but much of one side of one vid
was lost . It was a split screen , it wasnt anything worthwhile.
split screen can be more than one thing.

the VLC option : doping a screen cap seemed a bit of a low tech option , I was unsure about vid degradation via a screen cap. May be my only option though, so I'll give it a try.

basicly, I have 2 recordings of the same vid feed ,via 2 different brands of cheap DVR's. ( new DVR turned out to be rubbish )
Just want a side by side to compare & upload to YT. Just to show that the new DVR is bad .
Slightly out of sync doesnt matter too much , dont want audio
:-)

1448732 2018-04-24 01:01:00 How would you like to do the comparison? Since it's the same feed you could have two video tracks, crop one video half the left side, crop the other half the right side and just position them in their respective place.

Or you can do split screen, which again is two video tracks and you just size and position it.

You can use the open source software, shotcut to do this or openshot but the method is pretty much the same, working with multiple tracks (kind of like layers) and just resizing and positioning.

1448733 2018-04-24 02:20:00 Going by what you say you are wanting. this will do it, its free as well ( well a 30 day trial- no watermark. either)

For starters, watch this video www.youtube.com You want two videos, but this shows 4 so simply add in only two

Next download the 30 day trial of Camtasia ( this is V8 as per the video) camtasia-studio.en.uptodown.com

What the video doesn't show is deleting the instructions on first start, no problems, right click them, delete, a couple wont delete buty do after restarting the program. To add in the second track, click the + above the 1st track.

Screen shot of setup: 8794

The movie is rough as guts, but then so are the original video clips. ;) Along with Audio from Both totally out of sync :D

Download the finished film to view it (.mp4) ufile.io ( click on slow download its 24.? MB)
