876125 2010-04-13 10:33:00 I don't know if I am allowed to mention it on here, but has anyone seen the security group test in the March Aus PC Authority? Driftwood (5551)
876126 2010-04-13 10:38:00 Absolutely - was waiting for someone to comment on it - still seems to be quite a gulf between lab tests, and the real-world finding that techs make on here!! nofam (9009)
876127 2010-04-13 10:55:00 Those tests are a joke.

The article BTW is in the April issue. Page 69 Got it a while back ( on Subscription)

no Surprise as to Whats rated the Best  YEAH RIGHT!!

Take today - at a customers House - On one of their Laptops they have Nod32, and wanted the trial version of Norton Internet Security 2010 removed from the Desktop PC as it only had a week to go, and replaced with Nod.

When I got there, Norton was just finishing a full system Scan, as the person said "something funny" happened last night and she thought she would scan the PC before I got there, when it finished - No surprise Norton said it was clean.

Uninstalled it with Revo uninstaller, loaded in Nod32 - even before Nod had fully started it instantly picked up and quarantined 3 active infections, after a reboot another 5 - then while working on something else Nod finished scanning - a further 3 infections.

OH but Norton is the best according to these reports --- Wish I had $$ for every time I hear that and find infections with Nod32 -- Oh wait- I DO :D

876128 2010-04-13 22:06:00 Tends to cast doubt on the accuracy of their other group tests. Driftwood (5551)
876129 2010-04-14 05:34:00 All you can see by these results is which antivirus company has the largest advertising budget & which magazines recieve their share of that budget!

I WONDER HOW MUCH OF THAT BUDGET REFLECTS IN THE NEXT PC WORLD RESULTS (shouting intentional)

Had one last week too :D
Customer had Norton Internet Security 2009, all up to date and a scan found nothing.
Convinced them to change to NOD32 as NIS was slowing the machine down.
Removed NIS, installed NOD32 and ran a scan - Found and removed 3 viruses - PC running much better now - Customer very happy.

Now if only we could convince the laptop/PC makers to stop including the trial of Nortons on everything and change to NOD32!

876131 2010-04-14 10:17:00 How much is the licence for Norton Internet Security compared to Nod32? rebels181 (14841)
876132 2010-04-14 10:42:00 Norton is more expensive than NOD32 but it covers 3 PCs I think. Greven (91)
876133 2010-04-14 11:26:00 How much is the licence for Norton Internet Security compared to Nod32? No Idea what Norton:devil is costing (notice I said costing - NOT worth  )

The RRP: 1 year subscriptions

Nod32

3 User $135.86 & Single User $69.21

ESS

3 User $155.75 & Single User $80.04

Noted: just looked on one vendors site - Norton Internet security 3 user is less in cost -- But then it does less in protection - proven time and time again by many. Real world - NOT lab tests.
