875962 2010-04-13 01:49:00 Hi all,

I am trying to repair my version of windows but I am unable to get the ALT-F10 to work :( I a windows 7 repair disc but I don't think my computer boots from my dvd drive. It says I need to change this so I went in to BIOS and my boot priority is
1 - Sata: ST98823AS - (S1)
2 - IDE 0
3 - IDE 1
4 - PCI BEV: Realtek Boot Agent
5 - USB HDD:
6 - USB CDROM:
7 - USB FDD:
8 - USB KEY:

What do I do next? I know I am suppose to make it boot from my CD/DVD Drive but I can't see anything there that would be it?
Im not very confident with touching this stuff so Any / All help greatfully accepted.

Regards Katy:eek:

875965 2010-04-13 02:12:00 Change it to IDE 0 then IDE 1, dont forget to save the settings. See which one works. Also dont forget to press a key, when it says to press a key Speedy Gonzales (78)
875966 2010-04-13 02:14:00 You could change the order so the sata entry is third.
This should allow the DVD to boot.
What make and model is the machine?

875967 2010-04-13 02:28:00 could be that the DVD is faulty, therefore not showing sroby (11519)
875968 2010-04-13 03:09:00 My Laptop is and Acer Aspire 5100. Since I swapped them around IDE 0 now has stuff beside its name, IDE 0:HL - DT - ST - DVDRAM - GSA_ T1on - (P. I got the DVD drive to work and it loaded files, ran repair. Restarted changing it back to my C: drive but still no go. I don't have a backup to run from so I tried the original windows 7 disc. Had to go back to Boot from CD it started to install and said I had started with the disc and that I had to remove it and start windows normally. Did that and of course still no joy. What can I try next? (Hammer may be plan C yet) ollieogg (6593)
