2010-04-12 08:35:00 | Ok, Ive edited a number of recorded documentaries just to get rid of the ads and weather forecasts which no longer apply. All has gone well until I saved all the pieces to make one Movie, but it turned out to be 5.75G when saved in DVD format. (This shows up as AVI in the folder) Bit of a problem here fitting it on a 4Gig DVD. So, I converted it to a WMV file which is now only 743Meg and which fits on a DVD no problem, but it wont play on my DVD. Sooooo, anyone suggest a format that will fit on a DVD and my DVD player will play it? The burnt WMV plays fine on the computer so I guess its not the Burn but the format? As always, any suggestions appreciated. :thanks

2010-04-12 08:48:00 | You could buy the larger sized DVD, think it's 9.4 G | Scouse (83) | |
2010-04-12 09:17:00 | Well bummer. DVD Shrink cant seem to find any of my videos. It can find the folders theyre in, but not the files? Ive only used DVD Shrink a couple of times and that was to copy a DVD not take anything from a file. Now Ive never had anything to do with 9 Gig DVDs Scouse so I wonder if my elderly burner would burn them, let alone my DVD player playing them. Happy to give it a try if your relatively confident.

2010-04-12 09:19:00 | The DVD player should play it as the 8.5GB DVDs are dual-layer, as are all the pressed DVD movie on shelves. :) As for burning, that's another matter, but it's worth a try.

2010-04-12 09:28:00 | There are 4 types of dvds 2 single sided and 2 dual sided. We can only buy the 2 single sided ones, the first is a normal dvd which holds 4.7gb, the second is a dual layer dvd which holds 8.54gb. They are backward compatible with some dvd drives and players. They are still quite expensive I bought one last year for about $5 (not sure if they cheaper now). But with the larger space to burn to you lose the writing speed. | nedkelly (9059) | |
2010-04-12 09:33:00 | DVD shrink will only work with DVD format. Try loading them into DVD Flick, http://www.dvdflick.net/ it will convert them to DVD format and fit them to a normal DVD. (Don't forget to check the project settings and change to PAL) details here www.dvdflick.net
