875466 2010-04-12 02:57:00 This computer's CPU Heatsink cooling fan only spins for a couple of seconds after turning ON the PC and it stops. It works OK though. I left it run for about 30 min and it's still OK - doesn't shut down by itself.

After turning it off, the heatsink is still 'cool' to touch. I don't think that the fan itself is faulty as it spins for a few second when turning ON. Unfortunately, don't have a spare one to try at the moment.

What do you suggest?

875467 2010-04-12 02:59:00 If it stops at all replace it. What is it? Socket 478, socket 775, or AMD? Speedy Gonzales (78)

875469 2010-04-12 03:28:00 some fans only go when a certain temp is reached by the cpu (controlled by BIOS or tuning tools for the motherboard) nedkelly (9059)
875470 2010-04-12 03:43:00 Just checked with PCWizard that the Processor Temp is only 6 deg., mainboard is 33 deg. Could this be true? Or the MB is not working properly?

It's an Elite MB NFORCE 4M-A ver 3.0

875473 2010-04-12 04:19:00 hmm strange. What are you using to read the temps? nedkelly (9059)
875474 2010-04-12 04:22:00 Post 5 - PCWizard. Whats the BIOS say then? Could be a sensor on the mobo. It maybe dead / or knackered. It does happen Speedy Gonzales (78)
875475 2010-04-12 04:30:00 oops, saw that but have never used it so did not know it shows temperatures. nedkelly (9059)
