2009-07-09 08:36:00 | Most of the people in there forum have an interest in tech, and probably read blogs online to keep themselves updated so I would think lots of people have heard of it:) Its was only a matter of time really before Google made an OS, they're developing so fast! Oh, and BTW Welcome to the PressF1 forums!

2009-07-09 08:41:00 | It's not really an OS - it's a web browser which runs directly on computer hardware. There is some speculation that Google has announced it to distract people from Microsoft's pending announcement on Monday (www.istartedsomething.com) | somebody (208) | |
2009-07-09 08:42:00 | Thanks for that Somebody.....so are they creating a cloud OS? | Blam (54) | |
2009-07-09 08:47:00 | From what I can tell it's basically a very minimalistic OS who's sole function is to get chrome running as early in the process as possible, and have the rest of the system running inside chrome. It's all a lot of rumours at this point though, it's hard to get specific. | Erayd (23) | |
2009-07-10 00:18:00 | Yeah looks like its a minimalist linux distro that pretty much purely runs Chrome: googleblog.blogspot.com Some other points worth noting from what I can gather thus far: 1) It'll run on ARM as well as x86 -- Sounds like a big plus to me! 2) Incredibly fast boot times -- If Ubuntu reckon they can boot a full OS in 10 seconds, imagine an OS that just needs to load a browser? 3) Working with Wave -- Why have a full-blown OS to use Wave? Its going to change the world, so why have a full desktop OS when most things can be done right from the browser? I dunno about the rest of you, but the majority of what I do these days is straight from within a browser ... configuring phone systems, Web GUI's to routers, PF1, web-based downloaders, email through Gmail .. I usually just have Chrome open, along with a few notepad windows, and if I've plugged in my iPhone then iTunes opens also. I'm keen as mustard, personally :D

2009-07-10 02:30:00 | Chilling Silence Have you ever used any of Googles products like Adwords or Adsense ? Well I have and they are the most user unfriendly software I have ever seen in years. Very unintuitive. How many average users use Linux, or Open Office ?

2009-07-10 02:39:00 | Yeah I've used the Adwords & AdSense products, and I'll agree with you there. AdWords isnt too bad once you get used to it... However the likes of Docs & Gmail are uber-simple, I love them to bits, and use Google Apps on all my domains, with Google Mail for all my email across all domains. Seen the Wave preview video? Its 80 minutes long but worth the watch, I can't recommend it enough: http://wave.google.com/ It will seriously get your juices flowing ... 4x I found myself actually clapping to the video I was so amazed! Honestly :D
