789967 2009-07-08 09:44:00 This one is aimed at Terry Porrit.

I was talking to a Cousin in the UK on MSM, earlier today. I said something naughty to him & he said...Oooh you are awful..but I do like you.

To which I replied..Dick Emery.

Which got us talking about Old Comedians & films in which they appeared.

So my question is..Do you have freeware links to such viewing?. Thanks. PJ

789968 2009-07-08 10:07:00 I wish I did John, old films, especially old British films are hard to find.

The first port of call I make is SurfTheChannel, www.surfthechannel.com lots of movies and docos links there.

Then there is Veoh.com and VeohTV, Megavideo, Google.video, DailyMotion, Guba, all worth a look, and an online video guide at www.ovguide.com

You really need to be able to capture .tmp files too, I use Unlocker and then save as .flv files

Edit:but you find things are changing all the time as the Copyright Ghouls get to work, even on 1920s and 30s stuff, and especially on YouTube. Time Warner is bad at axing old films, film clips and music from the 30s they still claim to have copyright on.

789970 2009-07-09 03:10:00 If you want olde Brit flicks, move to the US. We get them ALL, all the time!

Just some that are listed, but I may not have watched:

Sherlock Holmes
The Third Man
The Thirty Nine Steps
Kind Hearts and Coronets
Brighton Rock
Whisky Galore!
The Flambards
The Lady Vanishes
Black Narcissus

...and that was just this week!

789973 2009-07-09 10:50:00 I now have "The Plank" starring Eric Sykes and Arthur Lowe and most of the others including Doris Day, in three parts from uTube. (60s fun search)
:D

789974 2009-07-09 15:59:00 Anyone who downloaded "the Plank" is honour-bound to give the reference ... surely?

I'd no idea Arthur Lowe was in that.
I interviewed him - heavy weather - might've helped if I'd known...

And Sue, I also loved Doris Day once apon-a-time, but where on earth does she fit into this Pom lot of movies - great though they may be?
Laura (43)
789975 2009-07-09 17:50:00 Doris Day was not in "the Plank"

Link for Laura.

I do have it on VHS BTW.
