875994 2010-04-14 05:54:00 Farmtown on Facebook is so much easier to work out :) Upgrading from One OS to another often cause problems, always better to do a fresh install. Could also be some sort of infection has gotten into the OS.

Regarding that comment above Didn't click on anything did you (mashable.com).

If the PC wont start in any mode, you may be better off slaving the HDD to another PC and backing up any data you have (if you haven't already), wiping the drive and reinstalling W7.

There are options to the above, but it means downloading (if you don't have them) large Apps that will boot off a CD - and not guarantee they will work.

875995 2010-04-14 05:59:00 Oh lordy I don't think there is anything special on my laptop that I can't do without? I mainly use it for board meeting minutes and even then they are backed up at work anyway. Do I need to reinstall vista and then Windows 7? I don't mind dl anything... I will do anything (within reason) to get my laptop going. As for Farmtown...:( I don't go near the adverts they have up the sides. :) Im wise to that at least. ollieogg (6593)

875997 2010-04-14 08:15:00 I ran a chkdsk on the C drive with /f/r
It says it found free space marked as allocated in the master file table <MTF> bitmap. Windows has made corrections to the file system.
It also said CHKDSK discovered free space marked as allocated in the volume bitmap. Windows has made corrections to the file system.
Iin the final line it said "failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50
What now?

875998 2010-04-14 08:31:00 I put the Windows 7 DVD in and chose install. It then came up with no device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, then click OK. What do I do next? or should I put the Vista disk in and try that? Keeping in mind that I upgraded Vista to 7 thinking that the "missing device drivers might be on the Vista disk? HELP !! ollieogg (6593)
