875603 2010-04-12 12:00:00 just keep in mind that the more programs you run the file through and the more times you reencode it, the lower the quality. utopian201 (6245)
875604 2010-04-13 02:37:00 Thanks Guy’s all done. :banana

Went with DVD Flick in the end and fitted it onto a 4.7gig disk just fine.

The whole thing took me days by the time I got it off the original disk (complete with Ad’s and weather forecasts) using Any Video Converter, edited it using Windows Movie Maker and then got it back on disk with DVD Flick.

I don’t think I’ll get a job at “Weta Workshops”.

Thanks again Guy’s for your help and input. :thanks

875605 2010-04-13 23:21:00 Whoooops, not finished yet. :crying

A mate liked my handiwork and asked if I could burn him a copy.

No problem, I’ll just copy the Audio_TS file and the Video_TS file to a folder on my HDD and burn them from there to another Dick.

Ohhhh dear, one Coaster which can’t be read or opened by anything. :(

So, the question now is how to clone a DVD without the very time consuming encoding etc.

I found a programme called AVS DVD Copy, but it still had to encode what was on the disk before burning it to a new disk. It’s not free so if I have to buy a programme I might as well buy the best. ;)

As always, I’m open to all suggestions. :thanks

875607 2010-04-14 00:09:00 Use something like Infrarecorder
http://infrarecorder.org/
Nero or the like to clone your disc.

875609 2010-04-16 02:39:00 Ok, all done this time I hope. :)

Of interest was the fact that Infrarecorder couldn’t read my disk advising it was corrupt, but Imagburn read it fine and did the job nicely.

The Burn appears OK as both disks work fine on the Computer and DVD player.

I just hope that in 12 months time when I go to do it again I can remember how. :D

875611 2010-04-16 07:40:00 Book mark this thread and write down the instructions in Word and save them, I have heaps of text documents on how to do stuff all stored in a nice folder and backed up just to be sure gary67 (56)
875612 2010-04-16 07:51:00 Yes, documenting the solutions to problems is a good idea, even if you do think you can remember them. Chances are, by the time you get the same problem you will have forgotten anyway! Agent_24 (57)
