875129 2010-04-12 22:17:00 As mentioned before, Download Helper plugin for Firefox will do what you want.
http://www.downloadhelper.net/

I've used it on YouTube to download a number of videos. The plugin gives you the option of the quality of video to download and can even convert it to other formats if required.

875130 2010-04-13 13:59:00 OK. I've got the "download helper" plug-in.
How/where can I find a video that I've just watched, via youtube, & transfer that video to a folder in my HDD, as a .flv file. Reason: I watch quite a few. Keep even fewer !!
Or, do I have to download the thing again In "downloadhelper. If I can't do this, there goes FF, again. Out the window. It's so simple to do all of this in IE. Makes one wonder, what's so special about Firefox, when it can' do this simple, everyday task !! :devil

875131 2010-04-13 14:46:00 I explained how to do it if you want to the same way as you do in ie...

takes about 40 seconds to set up the shortcut to the cache the way I described, then 5 seconds to use the shortcut each time you want to copy the vid from your cache and paste it anywhere you want.

FF cache is the equivalent of IE temp internet files

the only drawback is you then have to rename it and add the .flv (or other) ext when you re-name it, as FF has random generated character names with no extensions, as explained

As for the download helper - yes, you have to re-download it after you have watched it using that... and also start the download before you move on to watching something else - otherwise the option to download is gone (I think)

The only reason I explained it is because you seemed to want to know where the cache etc is and how to get them from there in FF, rather than asking what programs to do it.

875132 2010-04-14 03:54:00 Bevy121,
Thank you for your patience with the "Old Fart" But I can't get your 'workaround' to go, I'm obviously doing it wrong. Will try again. In the mean time, watched, copied & pasted (via IE6) a video, last night. Still works brilliantly, (for me)! Think that I might leave it at that,eh!!
If anyone's interested, it was Cab Calloway doing "Minnie the Moocher" from the "Blues Bros" movie That song, was probably older than all of you :punk
Regards to all.

875133 2010-04-14 06:57:00 yea, I was going to say as well, you could always just use IE LOL!

...and hey, I remember seeing Blues bro's very soon after it was released, great movie :)

I must have seen it at least a dozen times since then after getting the video (tape of course) soon after, then again with the kids watching it a number of times as they grew up as well heh.

....so tho the song is definately older than I
(Cab Calloway recorded it in 1931)
nearly quarter of a century before I was around, but my grandkids still say I'm an old fart too!

:)

875135 2010-05-22 08:35:00 I use NetVideoHunter (free on the Internet) to download with Firefox and YouTube. It works well. Billy (6701)
875136 2010-05-22 10:47:00 Go to Firefox Addons search all addons Video Download Helper for video not from U-Tube
For video from U-Tube use the addon Easy Youtube Video Downloader this addon will place download buttons on all U-Tube videos in several formats
Down Them All will get all image and video files from most sites as well
