| 789908 | 2009-07-08 21:52:00 | In my opinion Michael was an idiot-savant of sorts, who was mentally and physically beaten as a child and retreated into man/child-edness as a refuge from his father . His music was without doubt good and well-refined and outside of the then-current box . His videos were (somewhat questionable, taste-wise for me), nonetheless innovative and alluring in their aspect and view of life dark and brooding . His child-paedo-whatever, was (maybe) a dirtying of him by the RIAA moguls and their henchmen to destroy someone who wouldn't play the music game with residuals and fees the way they wanted - much like Clinton with his bimbo blow-outs and yellow dress stains when he wanted to give Palestine it's own country/state . The freeway traffic (although it didn't impact me here in Hemet), really tore up the commute at the height of go-to-work time for the "To/From LA 8AM commuters", and the expenses are right this moment being debated as billable to the insurance company (AIG?) for all the CHiPs and the city cops and fire departments and Cal-Trans and the like . They are saying (they ALWAYS say something) that about 4 . 3 MILLION USDs were spent on overtime, security and general fees for the public departments alone . News coverage was 24/7 - still IS as a matter of fact a day after the grand event . The hoopla at the Center with all the black speakers trying to make something much more grand out of a funeral-turned-media circus was laughable . The family at least had a rather subdued and somber few moments at Forest Lawn in the mausoleum with the body before it was whisked away for a dog-and-pony show at Staples' Center, miles away in LA, downtown . The crowds were all subdued and kindly to a point . Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the ANC preachers and C . O . R . E and their ilk were all there, flying on the coattail of The Michael for their own aggrandizement . Everybody was pimping Jocko's new found popularity . Sad and tragic as his death may have been, he's gonna make more $$ now than ever before . IMHO: Joe Jackson was/is a sleazeball and a provocateur, playing on current revisionist histories of The Family Jackson, if not downright rewriting them hisself . LaToya (I think) wrote the first tragi/serio/comedy exposè on the family; let's see if a new one pops up . She was forced to print retractions and apologies after it originally hit the shelves, but now maybe she can go on book signing Tour Redux . Good post again Joe done with some thought which is better than some others here . As for people saying he was a child molester it wasn't proven that he was . You had better watch out what you say as someone could have you defamation . As being interested in music alot of his music was great and the musical arrangements of some of his songs is really great done by Quincey Jones . The Jackson family story reminds me abit of the Wilson family story aka The Beach Boys . RIP Michael they can't touch you now . :) |

| 789909 | 2009-07-08 22:12:00 | I saw Battlestar Galactica on television the other night on C4, having watched the series originally on line. It is completely unwatchable because the ad breaks take longer than the show time, the interuptions ruin the whole flow and drama of the show. I've pretty much given up on watching NZ broadcast TV except sport, it just isn't worth it anymore. Plenty of places you can get the news you want to read or watch the news you want. | Twelvevolts (5457) | ||

| 789911 | 2009-07-08 22:21:00 | Re the molestation charges.... It's a shame that was never settled because although his success is undeniable (sales-wise, at least) it will always be "He was ground-breaking and incredibly successful, but what's with those kids" just like his ex-father-in-law will always be "He was ground-breaking and incredibly successful, but he was a bloated fat druggie who ate deep-fried peanut butter sandwiches and died on the toilet." There's compelling evidence both ways re the charges. On one hand, it's said that he paid that kid out just to "make this nightmare go away" and after all, there was insufficient evidence to convict. Not forgetting the mother of that kid had a history of money-grubbing lawsuits. But on the other hand, why would anyone have their bedroom door protected by multiple locks, cameras aimed at the door and an alarm if anyone came within the camera's sight? |
