790546	2009-07-10 03:34:00	I started using Vista a couple of months ago, when I bought a new laptop, and I have to say it isn't nearly as bad as its reputation makes out. In fact, it seems pretty smart. Consider this:- I usually have speakers plugged into the audio socket, but the other day I was fiddling around, and I needed to disconnect the speakers. Up popped a info balloon telling me "You just unplugged a device from the audio jack". Well, thank you, but I knew that. A mouse click cleared it away. Next day I switched on, and after the system booted, there was an info balloon telling me, "You just unplugged a device from the audio jack". Well, no, that was yesterday. Clear it with a mouse click. Next day, switch on, boot up, and, "You just unplugged a device from the audio jack". For Pete's sake, shut up! To make sure, I plugged the speakers back in. Up popped an info balloon to say "You just plugged a device into the audio jack". This straight-jacket they fitted me with is really uncomfortable.	Jayess64 (8703)
790547	2009-07-10 03:37:00	That message appears, because your mobo supports HD Audio / the audio ports on it support HD Audio, not because youre using Vista. It'll bring up the same thing in XP. Thats what happens if you plug / unplug whatever on the back ports. I think you can disable that under the Audio / HD Audio settings. This may depend on WHAT version of the Audio drivers are installed tho.	Speedy Gonzales (78)

790549	2009-07-10 03:47:00	I saw the same message the other day. As I was trying to get the front audio to work (when HD was enabled in the BIOS). BUT this only worked if I disabled detect front port detection in Realtek HD Audio Manager. However, it stuffed up the back port (the mic). I had to unplug / plug the mic back in (at the back of the case), so it would work. So, in the end I changed it back to AC97 in the BIOS (for the front port). 790551	2009-07-10 04:10:00	Not too sure what you could do for a laptop, but for a desktop that's not cooperating I'll generally enable multiple streaming, and disable front panel jack detection. There might be a front panel jack detection disable option somewhere for the notebook?	wratterus (105)
790552	2009-07-10 04:14:00	It should be similar to a desktop (the option to disable front panel jack). It'll only appear IF HD Audio is enabled (in the BIOS). If you dont see this option, its on AC97 (in the BIOS).	Speedy Gonzales (78)
790553	2009-07-10 04:19:00	I bought my laptop shortly after Vista made an appearance . Vista did not have any reputation at that time, so no preconceived ideas . I do not understand why it has such a bad reputation . I think it is easy, simple and fast . I have had no problems at all . The laptop does not go online so it has not updated with any service packs but is still virginal . Is that the secret? I do believe that if you do not want Vista (or XP as Speedy pointed out) to show you those obvious messages then you need to turn the notification off . Surely that can't be hard? Or is it just easier to moan about it? I don't think that Vista is all that different from XP, really . Uses more resources, I understand, but mainly the changes appear to be cosmetic . I wonder if there is anyone out there that does not want to moan and whine about Vista? Perhaps someone who likes some of Vista's features and would like to mention them in a positive manner or is that too much to ask? I like the small window that shows when you place the mouse pointer over the name of an active window on the task bar . Not useful, perhaps, but it looks good and no harm done . Let's start a trend . No moaning, no complaining, no whining . What are the good things you like about Vista? Or is that to hard for some confirmed moaners?:horrified	Roscoe (6288)

Vista's newest features tell you when you've done something!!! :lol: As Speedy said, it's not a Vista feature - it's because of the silly audio drivers. I used to have the same frustration with my Windows XP PC (this was quite a few years back) and Gigabyte's "smart" sensing audio driver software. I've used Vista since January 2007 and have never seen this "feature".	somebody (208)
