877108 2010-04-16 04:16:00 My TV is a Sony Bravia with a PC input.

Is it possible to get and then connect an external HDD to the TV with a cable that has a firewire connection at one end and a standard monitor connection at the other? I imagine not as I guess I would need to use the PC to access the external HDD.

What I was contemplating was playing my small collection of .avi movies directly from the external HDD without having to connect either a PC or another DVD drive (with a USB port) to the TV.

877110 2010-04-16 05:13:00 Thanks for that. Can I assume that the device might have a hard drive that I can record to? Bryan (147)
877111 2010-04-16 05:48:00 No - you supply your own. Depending on the model, they support USB drives and/or networked storage. MushHead (10626)
877112 2010-04-16 08:03:00 You can get some DVD players etc that have a USB port and will play some files on a hard drive\USB drive if you attach them to it Agent_24 (57)
