876837 2010-04-15 08:25:00 It's been absolutely years since I've been here... which means I've had years of hassle free computing I suppose.
But I just bought a Toshiba Tecra M5 ptm51a 0eg007 and it's got an XP install but I need the drivers and the page on the toshiba NZ driver page for that model must have over a 100M of drivers to download and on my semi broadband that runs from a low 15k per sec up to about 50k per sec it's going to take ages to get all those drivers onto this PC then into a USB MS then into the laptop:banana:happybday

So I'm thinking if I could ring Toshiba would I be lucky and find a person willing to cut me a CD full of drivers... for a reasonable price:thumbs:

Or maybe theres a small chance someone with the same model laptop will read this and offer to send me a copy of the drivers in the mail....

Any other suggestions of how to get these bigbits of bytes from the net onto the silicon lump, thats incidentally quite a nice lump, that sits in front of me.

I'm in a little suburb called Otara which is in the south western corner of Auckland. Oh, thats the north Island about three quarters of the way up from the bottom of that particular strip of land... so indeed, I'm in New Zealand!

876840 2010-04-15 09:07:00 Umm if you've brought it, the drivers should be on it. (Do you want drivers for XP, or for another version of windows)? And you should be able to create restore cd's / a DVD. Do you know what the link is, for the drivers?

Yup, I know where Otara is, I'm in Mt Eden.

876841 2010-04-15 09:42:00 The drivers aren't on it because the man I brought it from had reformatted and loaded XP prof and so when that boots it wants all the drivers to be loaded and I haven't a restore disc... which he really should have created before the reformatting...

I'm going to be using it mostly, initially, for recording and mixing of music so I don't know how much or many of all those drivers I'd actually need.
