876537 2010-04-14 09:53:00 FRENDS, I HAD D/LOADED SOME MP4 & AVI FILES BUT NOW I M UNABLE TO DELETE THEM FROM HARD DISC OF MY WIN XP.WEN I TRY TO DELETE IT SAYS ACCESS DENIED OR SOME OTHER PROG IS USING THEM THO NONE OF THE PLAYERS IS USING THEM.KINDLY HELP ME OUT.THANKS dssaini (15727)

876542 2010-04-14 21:03:00 What *usually* happens is the thumbnails are still trying to be generated / updated.

Changing the folder view settings to "list" means that windows doesn't need to try and generate any details, however it's worth noting that when you click on it, the likes of Win7 especially will try and show you the length of the video down the bottom in the status bar. I'm unsure if this happens in WinXP though...

XP does try & display the dimensions & length of the video in the status bar, IIRC. You just need to wait until this has displayed before trying to delete it, otherwise you get the denied message - even in list view.

It annoyed me no end until I realised I needed to be a little more patient :D

876545 2010-04-15 15:04:00 Tx frends 4 ur valued responses.I tried the Safe Mode method as suggested by dear Speedy and it helped me half way thru.I managed to delete some MP4 files but then again it started to tel that Access denied while i was still in safe mode and cud nt delete the remaining MP4 / avi files.Pl guide me further.Thanks And i hv not d/Loaded those files thru bit torrent Decible dssaini (15727)
