876311	2010-04-14 04:40:00	<rant> Last week, after reading a thread here on how to open . docx files and following the links to the new Word viewer, I had to download a stack of Windows updates before I could install it . Since then, a couple of programs have mysteriously broken . The first is being able to play FLV files downloaded from YouTube . No matter which browser is used to download them, I cannot get them to play in either Irfanview or a dedicated FLV player . Downloaded FLV files will play normally in either of those programs on my laptop, which does not have the same updates installed, but files copied over to the desktop still won't work . They will, however, play in VLC, thankfully . The second program to break is PHOTOfunSTUDIO 4 . 0 which worked perfectly fine before installing the updates . I now get a "FormSplash" error message and sometimes a mention of Microsoft . NET Framework, which Windows updated, and the program refuses to open . Like playing the FLV files, nothing I've tried will fix this program so again I've had to resort to using another program to get the photos and videos off the camera . I wouldn't mind so much except that I no longer have thumbnails to indicate what the video is of . Damn Windows and damn Microsoft . :mad: </rant>	FoxyMX (5)
876312	2010-04-14 08:24:00	Open Office (free) should open your docx files. I always turn Windows Updates off if things are running well. They update your system so that your software, which you have used for years, does not work, so you are forced to replace it!	mzee (3324)
