792495 2009-07-17 11:39:00 Hi all,
I am absolutely livid with Westpac . They have sent me one of those Westpac Debit Cards, the only problem is I didn't as for one!

The paperwork says activate it or cut it up . I'm going to take it to the bank tomorrow and see if I can fit it up someones nose! Must be time to change banks and take my business elsewhere .

What annoys me is that I never ordered it, therefore I didn't know it was coming . Someone could have pilfered it and activated it and then had access to my vast fortune (OK, a measly few dollars but all the wealth I have) and I would have never known . Trying to convince them that I didn't activate it would have been nearly impossible .

Curse them, curse them all!!!!

I wouldn't really get your nickers in a twist over this. I think you are totally
over-reacting. You will probably find somewhere in the small print that they can send you promotional advertising and products. And of course the card
isn't linked to your account until it is activated at the branch or maybe online, through your own internet banking.

792497 2009-07-17 21:13:00 I'd be annoyed .

I got a Visa ages ago and requested a permanent limit of $500, never increase it .
Then I got a letter saying it had been increased and I was to ring if I didn't want it increased . After specifically saying never do that .

Why should they push products on you and you have to opt out?

To activate this card all I had to do is ring a phone number and answer some security questions .

I have done this for a credit card recently, one I've had for over 20 years, so to active the replacement card I had to answer "security questions"
My name
My address
My date of birth

All which are easy to obtain as they are a public record .

The only other question they asked was my password for the card . Since you're not suppose to right them down and it was 20 years later the guy had to keep prompting me until I guessed it .

Some security!

And now, a day later I'm still annoyed . And the bank is open shortly!!!

792499 2009-07-17 22:41:00 Sounds like someone I know the idiots at ASB sent him a credit card (when he was 16) ! The bank should have known better ( I dont think you can get a credit card till youre 18 and you've got proof that you've got some kind of income).

He didnt say no (even tho he wasnt working at the time. He's still not working at 21 ) ! He spent up large on it (knowing full well, he had no way of paying it back). And the bank's still sending him letters about paying it back. Dont know where he is now (used to live here, doesnt now). So, all the letters go back to the bank once they arrive.

Just shows you how stupid banks are, and how stupid / gullible teenagers are these days

792500 2009-07-17 22:45:00 The person whose nose you stick the card up,will of course have nothing to do with you receiving it.
The persons concerned will have no interest at all in your views.

But as long as you feel better........

Unless you have told the random person that searches your mail box your pin number, the vast fortune will be safe .
It's called up selling . Every retail and service industry does it .

792502 2009-07-17 22:55:00 I would just burn it, cut it up and forget about it. As someone said before, no need to get your tits in a tangle, life's to short for that. Yes I have had a credit card since they first came out.

792503 2009-07-17 23:33:00 Are you sure you didn't accidently/drunkenly request one through the online banking? the_bogan (9949)
