877209 2010-04-18 22:35:00 Have tried everything but take the hdd out and putting into my desktop and try to load missing file from the flash drive. Last hope but i thought there must be another way surely. karbren (14078)
877210 2010-04-18 22:51:00 How are you tring to burn the ISO Image - you cant simply burn it as a standard file.

This will burn it as it should, download and install This ISO burner (software.lsoft.net). Once installed, right click the ISO file you downloaded, select burn ISO File. Make sure there is a blank CD in the drive. That should then allow the recovery console to load.

877211 2010-04-19 00:47:00 Thanks for that downloaded it and re-burnt the disc and it has loaded up. Just waiting to see the results before I can fully thanks you all for your help. karbren (14078)
877212 2010-04-19 02:11:00 Okay loaded the disc got it running only for it to tell me of another error.
"Windows cannot open required file E:\Source\instal.wim.
The file does not exist. Make sure all files are available and restart the installation. Error code 0x80070002."
Look on the net but all it tells is the update has downloaded without all the files even though it installed the update successfully. There seems to be a variety of reasons but none conclusive to help me. Any suggestions?

877213 2010-04-19 02:19:00 You cant use a recovery DVD to reinstall Vista. It doesnt have that file on it. Click on repair, if its got the option Speedy Gonzales (78)
877214 2010-04-19 02:23:00 Did that and it won't restart so I am back to square one. karbren (14078)
877215 2010-04-19 02:26:00 The only other option then. Remove the hdd, connect it to a desktop, then copy winload.exe from another version of vista (if youre using 32 bit, the version of vista may have to be 32 bit as well), to the same folder. And if the hdd has a restore partition, look for ISO's. Copy them to the desktop if they exist, then burn them. Then put the hdd back in the laptop Speedy Gonzales (78)
877216 2010-04-19 02:27:00 The problem is with a lot of the solutions only applies when the computer can be started normally and you can get into the problem areas. karbren (14078)
877217 2010-04-19 02:31:00 Well in my last post, you dont have to get it to boot. Because you're putting the hdd in another working / booting system Speedy Gonzales (78)
