| 792244 | 2009-07-17 02:20:00 | Thanks for that - that's the sort of risk I'm looking for. I actually haven't used Facebook at all, but have now deactivated it. I think I understand that my details may still be floating around - is anyone able to confirm? I think you have to request for your details to be deleted. It's quite a convoluted process but it is possible. They make money (or not...) from collating information, they're not going to delete unless they really have to. As always, assume anything you post on the internet will be seen by everyone. |

Anyway To permanently delete your Facebook account you supposedly: · Click on Help at the bottom of any Facebook page. · Search for “delete account” in the search box underneath the Help Center heading. · Click on the “I want to permanently delete my account” link and read the 2 paragraphs there. |

Facebook is good for keeping track of peeps news and posting or viewing photos. More of a concern for me is my own blinding speed of accepting all the conditions of some freeware just before I install it on my PC, given however that its normally from a reliable source. Does anyone ever read that conditions stuff, like will it ever say "if you install this software it will waste your hard drive"? Yea right. | Ofthesea (14129) | ||

There's a great website that exposes what is in some EULAs - some of it is staggering. But I just click on "Accept" every time anyway. |

| 792250 | 2009-07-18 09:45:00 | And everyone reads all the terms and conditions before they do anything? I think not. And then if you decline then the software does not install or your insurance is not valid or whatever. I received a letter from WINZ today which in part said "Please check the following details to make sure they are correct. These details are as at 14 July 2009. Relationship Status: You are single Your living situation: You are living alone Is the information above correct? If not, please call us on our NZ Super line 0800 553 002 or contact your local Work and Income service centre." I am not single as such. I am married but separated. My wife and I live under the same roof as we reside in the same block of flats. We do not cohabitate as a couple would do. IE share the same bed at any time. We are still friends anyway. She helps me with gardening and I help her with computers. The two cats we had before separation are shared. No expenses are shared. I do not live alone as I have a cat. |

Who needs Facebook Sweep - when you can blog on here? And I'm sure Internet Explorer doesn't share the same bed with you. I believe you. Thousands wouldn't. |

| 792252 | 2009-07-18 11:05:00 | I don't use Facebook. It's funny when people want to add you to their friends list and you tell them you don't have an account. | Agent_24 (57) | ||
| 792253 | 2009-07-18 11:21:00 | Well, here's your answer (www.nzherald.co.nz) I don't like facebook as a company, and I would never use it. THey are still working out a way to monetise their business, so all that information they store on people is very valuable. It has already notten a lot of people when they have gone for a job, and the boss then looks them up on facebook and finds all sorts of dirty secrets. |
