791896 2009-07-16 08:21:00 No Major Damage Bah, my transmission blew 10Ks outside of Balclutha virtually the same time as the earth quake, so i didn't fell the earthquake, just a graunching shuddering as my car ate itself.

Now I need you guys to do me a massive favour, is there any scientific data on a correlation between transmission failure and earthquakes, because fixing this is swallowing my entire savings (sad but true), so if I have some evidence to blame it on the earthquake I will be contacting the EQC faster than a really fast thing.

791899 2009-07-17 03:12:00 I didn't feel squat here in Christchurch, but some mates did.

Strange, considering I felt the Napier quake back in 2007.

791900 2009-07-17 11:49:00 I was talking to my brother in Gore when he felt the shake. It lasted for about 30 seconds while we were talking.
I felt it here in Christchurch over a minute later although most people didn't.

791901 2009-07-19 04:19:00 Didnt feel it in Glen Eden. prefect (6291)
791902 2009-07-19 04:58:00 And I thought it was too far to be of interest. But had a customer yesterday from Glenham - not far from here.

Power line problem, shoved 430v into the house. Lights hissed and blew, landed on carpet, caught fire, computer dead, monitor dead, electronic keyboard dead, sky decoder dead. Etc etc.
In fact things that were working have now died a day or 2 later.

So he's got a large insurance bill.

:)

Don't you only have 24 or 48 hours to lodge a claim?
the_bogan (9949)
791905 2009-07-19 06:12:00 No. I think you have up to 3 months to make a claim with the EQC.
