877178 2010-04-16 06:54:00 Our fujitsu Lifebook V1020 won't start up it says a file is missing and need to load my windows installation cd but I don't have one. the File: \windows\system32\winload.exe, Status: 0xc000000e, Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt. Is there any I access the hard drive to reload it from there as I haven't had much luck. karbren (14078)

877180 2010-04-16 07:01:00 I have only difference is one is home basic and the other is home premium. If I do try I am not sure how to do it. karbren (14078)
877181 2010-04-16 07:08:00 Is Vista Home on a desktop?? If it is, does it have SATA? Speedy Gonzales (78)
877182 2010-04-16 07:21:00 The desktop is xp but the other laptop has Vista home basic. I had rung a repair shop today and they said it would have to be done by accessing the hdd on the laptop concerned. karbren (14078)
877183 2010-04-16 07:31:00 You could probably do a restore, if theres nothing on the hdd (that you want) .

Or to save you taking it to a shop, if the desktop with XP has SATA, you could copy winload . exe from the other laptop to a USB flash drive (if you've got one) .

Then connect the hdd that wont boot to XP (one of its SATA ports, if its got SATA ports) . Then copy it across

877186 2010-04-16 07:44:00 SATA pots are on the motherboard and have 10mm cable as opposed to IDE the older technology that uses ribbon cables wide ones see picture for SATA gary67 (56)
877187 2010-04-16 07:45:00 You'll have to open the case. And see if these are on it (en.wikipedia.org) Speedy Gonzales (78)
