792036 2009-07-15 23:43:00 If the NZ power consumers were ripped off for $4,000,000,000 while Labour was in power, how come power charges have not come down under National? Is National happy to keep ripping us off for more $$$$$$$$? Cheers royaloaks (8205)
792037 2009-07-15 23:52:00 They are ripping us off with more style and elan, just pay and be grateful. R2x1 (4628)

792040 2009-07-16 00:53:00 Isn't it that there wont be any more price hikes? So National might not be bringing prices down but they probably wont go up. That's my understanding of the whole power price conundrum. beeswax34 (63)

You're expecting the National Govt to look after our interests? They only look after their own interests! If you think that National will bring changes, you're too naive (pardon me).

792042 2009-07-16 01:25:00 FROM THE OFFICE OF THE MINISTER FOR MISCELLANEOUS STUFF:
Unfortunately, the meetings to thrash out the reduced power charges ran a little over budget, what with gratuities, koha and airfares. However, rest assured your representatives are looking into ways to reduce the charges. No stone was left unturned in the search for ways to economise, but unfortunately looking under rocks only revealed cabinet ministers. To fund the necessarily high costs of saving money, (it was decided that raising power charges to cover the cost would be self defeating) a levy is being added to every power bill. In order to maintain user confidence that we have achieved the necessary separation between accounts, there will be a small additional levy to cover the costs of oversight and audit conferences.
Naturally, to assist in the rapid recovery from the dire economic inheritance the previous government bestowed, this additional cost will not be levied on businesses or National Party members.
Trusting in your understanding,

Power prices aren't dictated by the government - therefore it doesn't matter who's in power, the prices won't be coming down anytime soon.
