| 878279 | 2010-04-20 03:27:00 | Hi I've got my Toshiba A300 laptop set to go into sleep mode when I shut the lid. Recently when I do this it plays the "Device connect" sound from the default Windows sound scheme, and when I open it it plays the "Device Disconnect" sound, sometimes twice. Where do I go to find out what is causing this minor irritation and how do I stop it? I'm using Vista Home Premium SP 1 Thanks :groan: |

| 878282 | 2010-04-20 03:33:00 | Edited: ok Edited to Vista -- Similar>>> ( originally was for XP) If you want to disable it ( the sound) - control Panel / sounds and audio/ Sounds Tab Under windows, One at a time select device connect & device disconnect - then in the drop down box select none. | wainuitech (129) | ||
| 878283 | 2010-04-20 03:44:00 | That'll stop the sound OK but how do I find out what device it thinks it's dealing with? Thanks for the suggestions so far - I've got to dash out to an appointment so will pick further advice uo later  |

| 878288 | 2010-04-20 06:35:00 | Try going into the power settings , look for action when closing lid ( or words to that effect) see if theres an option to make a sound as well (only a guess without seeing the setting). | wainuitech (129) | ||
