877482 2010-04-17 10:39:00 After reading several materials I understand that Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs will soon be extinct run over by the i3, 5 & 7 series. Sooner or later they will also face the same fate, we know because, there are more baits in their store awaiting us. Technically in a broader analysis, both groups are not making much difference, I suppose. Therefore, does choosing the old to the new make any difference at all? namboothiri (14469)

877484 2010-04-18 03:23:00 For most applications you will be fine with the older system. If you start wanting to run games in the future you might get problems, but the system requirements for word processing etc won't increase much (if they do, something is wrong!) Agent_24 (57)

877486 2010-04-18 03:50:00 Bear in mind though, if you were to one day say add an HDTV Tuner card via ExpressCard slot etc that an older system might not be able to handle it

A Core 2 should, but some of those Intel integrated graphics are pretty terrible...
