793082 2009-08-02 23:27:00 And finally... johcar (6283)
793083 2009-08-02 23:29:00 Be interesting to see how good Shumacher is without a superior car, that he had for 7 years. Cicero (40)
793084 2009-08-02 23:33:00 Thanks johcar. The Lotus, the Brabham and the Cooper are my favourites. They are my generation of racing cars which I watched race at Pukekohe and Levin. Probably bloody slow by today's standards though. I cant really see the old Cooper staying anywhere near the McLaren MP4. :thanks Richard (739)

I'll bet he will still finish much nearer the sharp end than the blunt end. He may well finish with points from the GP of Europe in Valencia. The Spanish GP was at Barcelona, as usual. He is an exceptional competitor, and has been so closely involved with the Ferrari team you can bet he has kept his hand in. ;)

I was reading yesterday that he's not allowed to practice in this years car, only in a 2007 car. Some regulations about testing during the season

793088 2009-08-03 04:55:00 That's right. He has to use an older car and also a simulator. No testing is a stupid rule. How can they make improvements if they can't test the results? I'm also not in favour of a lot of the new rules introduced for reasons of cost. F1 was always the ultimate in experimentation and development, so if a team came up with an idea from left-field, good on them. Imagine how John Cooper would feel today if Ecclestone said 'Sorry John, you can't put the engine in the back, it would be too expensive for everyone else. Keep it in front where it is supposed to be.' Richard (739)
793089 2009-08-03 05:00:00 To cut on costs, no F1 team are allowed to test cars between races this year. The only time they can test there cars is during the 3 official practice sessions before each race. Last race Torro Rossa (Red Bulls b team) had a new driver who had never driven a F1 car before went out and did about 80 laps in the first practice session. And that is what all the teams are doing using the practice sessions as testing sessions for new parts.

793090 2009-08-03 05:11:00 I don't think he is as good as the results suggest, due to having a far superior car, which is the not the case now,but time will tell. Cicero (40)
