| 878156 | 2010-04-19 08:49:00 | Hi Everyone, My Vista Home premium is refusing to load, the computer starts up normally, the microsoft logo, and the bars go past, and then the computer suddenly goes to BSOD. Ive tried safe mode, sm with networking, Last known good configuration and Start normally, I havent Tried Command Prompt. I also used the Vista disc to try and "Repair my computer", it figured out that vista couldn't load but couldn't fix it, I used to command prompt to chkdsk, but that finished quickly and found no errors. The Memory check also didn't give me any results. Im currently running a livecd of Ubuntu 9.04 on my pc... Help? Thanks in advance |

| 878159 | 2010-04-19 09:05:00 | Depends whats causing it, if its infected, and files have been infected, scanning the hdd in another system, will rule this out. And thats probably the other way youre going to get it to boot again (you may have to copy files across). When did it start?? And WHAT did you install before it crashed? Is this 64 bit Vista? |

| 878160 | 2010-04-19 09:26:00 | The last time I shut down my computer was last night, used it again today afternoon, yep, it is 64bit Vista. All I used it for last night was Social Networking, looking up some facts for a reseach assignment, and listening to music... I did open up the case a couple of days ago to give it a good clean, but I doubt this would have caused it, as it should have stopped working the second I turned it on after cleaning it, if that was the problem? |

YEP - on the Linux Live CD, navigate to the minidump file location C:\Windows\Minidump - copy the minidump file to a USB Drive. On A working Windows PC, install This (www.nirsoft.net) - navigate, load in the dump file and it will give you (or should) some better idea of the cause of the crash (drivers etc) Note: just located that program today, so I still have not had a chance to test it fully-- no damn dumpfiles :crying Finding the problem is most of the battle - fixing it is easier. |

| 878162 | 2010-04-19 09:46:00 | Looks like that stop error has something to do with this (support.microsoft.com). Even tho this is for XP, it probably applies to Vista. And something on the hdd is corrupt. When it gets to a certain file, (if its corrupt), thats when it crashes. I would scan the hdd for errors |
