793199 2009-07-20 01:44:00 Hey Guys... I"m looking at buying roughly 25 computer desks and I'm wondering if anyway could find a site that i could look through there range.. I've already googled them but to no avail

Pretty much i want them to be like this

_____________
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xMONITORxxxx
---------------
xMOUSE+KBxxx
---------------
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xLEGsPacexxxx
xcomputerxxxx

Sorry for the funny drawing but thats pretty much how i want it.

It has to be room, but space conservative and it also needs to be able to fit a 19-22" widescreen comfortably

It needs to support a bit of weight

Its in all probability going to be used for gaming so it need a good amount of room for a keyboard + sidewinder x3

793200 2009-07-20 01:55:00 You could try the Warehouse Stationery website (or any of the other major office suppliers) - for example: www.warehousestationery.co.nz somebody (208)
793201 2009-07-20 02:00:00 I tried opd, i was trying to think of all the office furniture places. thanks for this.

Anyway, the closest they have is this: www.warehousestationery.co.nz

How much would it cost if i got a professional woodworker to do it :/ ?!?
Im trying to get it for $100 or under(but fully expect to blow my budget)

Presumably this is for a commercial environment (i.e. internet cafe or similar?) since you're after 25? You'd be better off spending a bit more and getting desks which people won't keep breaking. The cheap and nasty ones aren't very solidly built, and can be easily damaged.

Getting these custom built will be expensive. Another option is to look at auction sites to see if there are any offices closing down and trying to get rid of old furniture.

793203 2009-07-20 02:14:00 It might also be worth looking at Formway and Furnware - the former is a more high-end manufacturer of very good quality furniture, and the latter targets the education sector. somebody (208)
793204 2009-07-20 02:25:00 Mitre 10 Mega stores have them for $99.95 - at least the Dunedin one has. They look ok too. . . nofam (9009)
793205 2009-07-20 02:25:00 Ok... and yes you are correct, I'm overhauling a internet cafe.

What timber would be the best for my situation. and what prices am i looking at paying?!!?

Whatever you buy, it'll either be MDF, or some sort of coated MDF/particleboard (i.e. Melamine, Melteca). Anything else will be far too expensive.

MDF?!?! what is this. I realize the computers aren't awfully heavy (well atleast the keyboard mouse and monitor aren't) But what weight can this support, as in no doubt people will lean on them from time to time...

Medium Density Fibreboard; sawdust and glue formed under pressure and heat into sheets of various sizes.

As Somebody says, it's cheap, easily shaped, strong and reasonably robust. Perfect for what you want, but it will need to be painted or covered with something, as it gouges and stains quite easily
