| 878804 | 2010-04-21 04:52:00 | Hi How do computers display 10+ screens? (eg for stock market uses etc). I know eyefinity allows up to 6, but they can't be crossfired for 12. And there are matrox cards which allow up to 16, but is that the only way, to get a specialised, expensive card? Price is no object, aiming for about 10-12 screens, with option to expand to more screens. Well, ok, the budget is about 10k excluding screens. Not worried about the screens for now... (about 20-30k allocated for screens alone). Or are there specialised industrial applications for this that are outside the realm of normal pcs?) |

| 878805 | 2010-04-21 05:01:00 | Multiple graphics cards with multiple outputs. And for repeating the same information across multiple screens you can easily get VGA/DVI/HDMI multiplexers. Matrox and perhaps a couple of other places also offer Remote Graphics Units which can allow multiple displays per unit as well. |

Paul at Datastor helped me with a project for 10 monitors in a Real Estate office in the Waikato a few years ago before they had the 8 output cards. Talk to him if he's still there. |

Strictly speaking, you are right, eyefinity does not allow crossfire for 12 screens, however, Windows allows for that many screens, so if you were to get 2 (or even 3) 5870 Eyefinity 6 display cards, you will definitely be able to run 12 (or more) screens, you just won't be able to use all of them for eyefinity (which is really only for gaming). I'm only guessing, but I really can't see any reason why not, and it will probably work out cheaper than any Matrox solution. |
