| 878644 | 2010-04-21 00:41:00 | I have XP installed on a computer and I installed Kubuntu by way of Wubi. One day I tried to load the Kubuntu and got the error "Root.disk does not exist" I read this might be due to corruption, so I told chkdsk to run. I rebooted but it didn't do anything. I tried several times and in the end used fsutil to mark the drive dirty. Now, on every bootup I get this message: checking file system on C: the type of file system is NTFS cannot open volume for direct access windows has finished checking the disk ...... I since reinstalled Kubuntu but I can't get CHKDSK to work. I read this can be caused if SP2 is not installed, but I have SP3. |

| 878648 | 2010-04-21 03:12:00 | Yeah I gave up on Kubuntu after the CHKDSK failed to run, so I just reinstalled it again. I'm running Comodo on that machine, but I have Comodo on several machines and they can all run CHKDSK fine. It wouldn't surprise me if it was Comodo though. I will investigate later. |

| 878650 | 2010-04-21 22:57:00 | Yeah but I forced CHKDSK myself with FSUTIL, that wasn't caused by Comodo. Although I am guessing that Defense+ may be blocking CHKDSK from running, or something. Weird though, because it's never happened before on any other system. |

| 878651 | 2010-04-22 03:30:00 | How exactly did you run it ? as per MS's site Because fsutil is quite powerful, it should only be used by advanced users who have a thorough knowledge of Windows XP. In addition, you must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to use fsutil. That message as posted earlier cannot open volume for direct access basically means you dont have permission as you are currently running it. |

I have an administrator account on XP. There should be no issues there I will disable Defense+ in Comodo now and test. I think this is the issue... |

| 878653 | 2010-04-22 03:45:00 | Is the Admin account just an account with admin rights or the "real" admin account. Like Vista & W7 - having an account as an administrator is NOT the same as the real admin account. |
