878471 2010-04-20 07:37:00 New Wireless Router Suggestions Please

My home network consists of:

Desktop Windows 7 64 Bit
Acer 3680 Laptop Windows 32 bit
Apple Mac Book Pro Snow Leopard
WD Live

Currently I use (when it allows me...) a D-Link 604G but for the last month or so the connection has been dropping off several times a day (ISP is Xtra). At the end of the year we will be moving to Dunedin and will be able to have ADSL2+ (yea!)

I would prefer something that I can just plug in and will work.I like the look of the Linksys Wireless-N ADSL2+ but it doesn't appear to be very popular as far as reliability is concerned.

Suggestions welcome,thanks.

Beaten to the punch-line :(

'tis nice having a "canned response" though IMO :D

878476 2010-04-21 10:14:00 Does the Netcomm router allow you to set the internet bandwidth? I have a need to strangle PS3 data consumption Phil B (648)
878477 2010-04-21 10:18:00 Have a look at the airport extreme routers, Mine has been running faultlessly now for 3 years. Simultaneous dual band, gigabit. The usual no fuss apple setup plod (107)
878478 2010-04-21 10:51:00 Yeah the Extremes aren't bad either :D

There's QoS on the NetComm but I couldn't get it to work (Never really tried to be honest).

If you want uber QoS, then you want something like a WRT54GL running Tomato...

878479 2010-04-21 10:56:00 I gotta WAG160N that's never missed a beat. I was thinking of moving that to work & getting a new one for home. The 160N QOS is good, very effective lol Phil B (648)
878480 2010-04-21 12:05:00 I'd consider yourself lucky then, it's certainly not the norm... And I couldn't get the QoS on it to work either, and I *definitely* tried! I got it active, but it was just no good, and didn't work ... Chilling_Silence (9)
