878382 2010-04-27 23:21:00 I think the onboard NIC is working. It says it is under its entry. And its icon for it is there (in the taskbar), but its saying cable is unplugged (because it isnt plugged into anything YET).

BUT, it hasnt actually been tested (the cable is connected to the NIC Deno brought). So, yeah, I'm positive I SAW the mobo had IEEE1394 on the site last night. It said it under specs, and one on the back panel. I've just looked at the site again. And both have disappeared :confused:

878383 2010-04-28 11:20:00 If it wasn't for speedy's help last night, the ethernet still wouldn't be working!
I've tested the onboard one and it's going good. I downloaded the sound driver from gigabyte website (searched the driver that was mentioned in the chipset driver) I wasn't sure what I was doing as there were about 8 different folders, but I somehow got it working (by fluke lol). Once that was going I did all the security updates and installed SP3. I've learnt a very important lesson though from all of this and that's KEEP ALL THE INSTALLATION FILES FOR THE DRIVERS!!! lol thank you again Speedy! All those Hardware profiles were way over my head!!

878384 2010-04-28 11:52:00 No probs at all Deno. I still dont know what that PCI device is. Or has that PCI device disappeared as well? But, if you want me to check again, give me a yell via PM Speedy Gonzales (78)
878385 2010-04-28 12:35:00 the pci device was the sound controller, as soon as the correct driver was installed, the pci device disappeared. deno240 (13664)
878386 2010-04-28 12:51:00 Sweet ! Well buggered if I know where that info about firewire came from last night on the site (that I showed you) lol. Because it isnt there now. And thats probably why I couldnt see the entry for it in device manager  Speedy Gonzales (78)
