878372 2010-04-27 09:45:00 Nope, nothing. deno240 (13664)
878373 2010-04-27 09:49:00 Umm if this is a new install of windows, did you install the chipset drivers? I could still check it out if you want (if you put the modem back in - put it back in the PCI slot it was out), if it can dial up. If you want. But it sounds like something is knackered on your system. Speedy Gonzales (78)
878374 2010-04-27 09:50:00 Yeah I did do that. that was the first thing i did. deno240 (13664)
878375 2010-04-27 09:54:00 Youre not seeing any data is invalid messages are you, after installing any drivers?? This used to be a common prob in XP Speedy Gonzales (78)
878376 2010-04-27 09:57:00 Nope. The only error is the onboard ethernet drivers and now this new one.

I've reinstalled xp about 3 times in the past and have never had this trouble until now

878377 2010-04-27 09:58:00 Well put the modem back in use dialup and I can check it out. And see whats happening. Thats if it moves lol Speedy Gonzales (78)
878378 2010-04-27 10:17:00 Ok, I've signed up to KOL.
Someone is using the phone so it will be available within the next hour.

In the meantime I'll install teamviewer on the computer and you can let me know what to do from there.

878379 2010-04-27 10:20:00 After you get teamviewer, install then run it. Send the ID and pw to me in a PM. I need both to get into your system Speedy Gonzales (78)
878380 2010-04-27 22:31:00 OK. Managed to get the onboard NIC to work. After trying to find the drivers.

Going by what was under hardware ids under its entry in device manager, the onboard NIC is Nvidia MCP based (the site says Realtek RTL8211BL Gigabit Ethernet controller) . Well, thats NOT Nvidia is it. No wonder the realtek drivers didnt work

It now says its working. The drivers that Deno had for the NIC he brought may have been corrupt or something. Because, after I unzipped the files from the site, it decided to work. Installed the VGA drivers. Only thing that doesnt want to work is the sound. Typical of gigabyte, (they dont even know what theyre putting on their mobos), the damn audio drivers (like the LAN drivers), from the site dont work. I had to search elsewhere for the LAN drivers. I'll probably have to do the same for the audio

And for some reason (it looks like its got IEEE1394 is onboard - well it said it did on the site last night ), the drivers for it wont install. Dont know if it will once the system gets updated
