878362 2010-04-27 07:59:00 Having trouble installing the new card, first it comes up an error message saying it hasn't passed windows logo testing to verify it's compatible with XP (Even though it has drivers on there for XP!) so I clicked continue anyway, then it says There was a problem installing this software windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware, the driver may be corrupted or missing.... It can't be corrupted as it was brand new and sealed in the packaging, it's not missing as windows recognizes it, just won't install it.. deno240 (13664)
878363 2010-04-27 08:07:00 Is the install file an exe file?? If it is, did you double click on it to run it? Not try and install it from device manager ? If its a zip file, did you extract the files first? Speedy Gonzales (78)
878364 2010-04-27 08:17:00 I tried to install from device manager as there's no exe file under XP, there's 5 files, one being a security catalog file, 3 being system files and one being setup information... I looked at the setup information but it doesn't say how to set it up.. it just has the card information and it says all the setup files. No help at all! i don't know how to open up the other files. deno240 (13664)
878365 2010-04-27 08:24:00 You select the inf file (that setup information file), after you go to device manager / driver tab / update driver option. Then it should say the name of that adapter. Then click on it / next then it should load the drivers Speedy Gonzales (78)
878366 2010-04-27 08:36:00 I've gone device manager, under network adapters it says TP-LINK ..... ethernet pc card, I clicked update drivers, it asked if windows can connect to windows update to search for software, I clicked yes, tried installing automatically but it said it can't find a better match for your hardware than the software you currently have installed, tried selecting the XP folder on the disk, same thing happened. Clicked all the files..

Im guessing the inf. file is the setup information type, right clicked and selected install, nothing happens. Clicked into it and it just has a whole page of info about the folder contents.

878367 2010-04-27 08:43:00 The inf file is called Netrtlx (well it is from the site). Thats the file you select in device manager. Well if its already saying TP-Link in device manager, does it say its working if you dbl click on the entry under the general tab? If it does the drivers are installed. Configure it

Dont tell windowsupdate to find it. Select the other option / click on have disk, then go to the folder you extracted the files to. Then select Netrtlx. Dont right mouse select the inf file / and select install. Go to device manager like I said / driver tab / update driver option. Make sure you select the RIGHT folder thats got the inf in it. Since there's drivers for XP, 2000, Linux, 2003, 98, Vista, 98 SE, Me and Novell

878368 2010-04-27 09:08:00 No it has an exclamation mark next to it.
I did say have disk, directed it to WINXP folder. It said there was a problem installing it.. But it's there in device manager, under device status it says windows cannot load the device for this hardware and has code39.

It is the right folder, it says TG3269 and in that folder it has Vista, XP etc.. I'm clicking into XP.

878369 2010-04-27 09:11:00 Make sure its in the PCI slot properly . And screwed in. If it is, turn it off put it in another slot. if there's a spare one. Then try again. If that doesnt work disable the onboard NIC (if you havent already) then try again Speedy Gonzales (78)
878370 2010-04-27 09:29:00 I took the modem out and put the card in that slot, made sure it was in properly and it's screwed in but there's still the same problem. I also disabled the ethernet controller in device manager, but made no difference. deno240 (13664)
878371 2010-04-27 09:33:00 Are there any Ethernet / network card entries in add/remove programs?? From the previous installs you tried? Besides wireless (If you installed wireless drivers).

If there, are uninstall them. Then try again
