878504 2010-04-22 02:06:00 Well I just went to try Vitamin D but fell at the first fence.

My computer comes nowhere near the specifications required. :blush:

Vitamin D Video for Windows (Starter Edition, v1.1.1)
System requirements*

* Windows XP SP2+, Vista, Windows 7
* 1GB RAM or higher; 2GB minimum for Vista and Windows 7
* 2.0GHz Pentium 4 processor or higher
* 25GB of free disk space is recommended
* 1024 x 768 screen resolution

So It's back to Active WebCam which works fine on my low specification computer. Never saw any Min Spec's for it but it works which is the important bit. :D

878505 2010-04-22 02:10:00 There should be a setting in the computer BIOS that you can set so that if there is a power cut the PC will turn back on automatically when the power is restored.

Your a Legend! :banana

Sure enough, I had a choice of Stay Off - Auto (don't know what that does) and Power On.

Well that saves me constructing a No Break Sub-Station. :lol:

878507 2010-04-22 06:19:00 Hey BM

Just a thought. Just because the computer restarts doesn't mean your program will open by itself or the camera will switch on. If this is the case, then you have no surveillance. Try it, let us know.

878508 2010-04-22 06:38:00 just stick it in startup folder in start menu nedkelly (9059)
878509 2010-04-22 08:17:00 Hi NedKelly

Thought about that myself but would this restart the camera?

878510 2010-04-22 08:30:00 Well if the program starts recording as soon as it opens yes. I would also recommend using either a limited account with automatic login turned on or have a pc that is only ever going to do this and has nothing important on it with automatic login. nedkelly (9059)
878511 2010-05-23 06:32:00 Just to sign this little project off guys.

I’m back after a month in Aus and the programme “Active WebCam” worked perfectly.

The cretin referred to in my first post got shown the door, not to the outside world as was supposed to happen, but back to his cell. The Justice Department must have finally employed someone with half a brain. ;)

Anyway, I didn’t know all this when I jumped on the “Great Silver Bird” so I hurriedly set up Active WebCam and at the last moment invested my trust in a neighbour, who was given a key and asked to check the place. However, I didn’t tell the neighbour there was any surveillance, there may not have been as I didn’t know how much trust to put in the programme or the old computer I used for the exercise.

Blow me down if I didn’t get a series of photo’s E-Mailed to me throughout the Month I was away of the neighbour checking the place. All Time and Date stamped

Brilliant, not only do I have Surveillance System that works, but a neighbour I can trust. :D

A good result and thanks to all for your help. :thanks
