I usually pick the machines up myself, so I can list needed items while there; whereas you may get the boxes (only) mostly, plus you probably wouldn't have the time for faffing about like me :D.

Picking up a Persons PC can save a lot of hassles for sure :D That way you can actually see whats there.

One exception is when you have a PC dropped off, and like One I got on Friday, unbootable, and slaving the drive to recover the data first, I looked at what programs were installed.
They had 3 different printers showing in the program files, HP, Epson and Lexmark. The one they used was actually the Lexmark.

879137 2010-04-24 06:35:00 All those are MS products which is why this is so very frustrating. The KB does have shortcut keys which do make my life easier. The webcam was not recognized at all so I gave up on it and gifted it to a friend who I knew would give it the love and attention I couldn't...:crying

The KB model is Microsoft Natural Wireless Ergonomic keyboard 7000 and the attendant mouse also model 7000.

As I said I can't get to the MS update page to download the W7 drivers for this and installing from my original driver CD is not allowed by the OS.:angry

www.microsoft.com

Then you need these (If you have 32-Bit Windows 7)

All found through the link Sweep posted already

879138 2010-04-25 12:19:00 It is the Intellipoint and Intellitype software I want.
Are you saying it's not compatible with W7?

879141 2010-04-25 18:46:00 I had a clean install of W7 done about 5 months ago and gotta admit love the new OS...BUT:
1. W7 does not have drivers for MS KB, mouse and webcam (could not find the, on MS website) etc and

2. Its own firewall will not allow updates....I have emailed the MS help desk as I did not find a solution on their website, and I'm still waiting for a response.
It'll probably arrive the day after I switch to....Mac (gasp!)

As always, you are my go to guys....

Thanks

1. are you connected to the Internet when you plug those devices in? They should just work. Can you please let us know the exact models of your keyboard, mouse and webcam. The correct drivers should be coming down from Windows Update, and I will pass that on to the correct people inside MIcrosoft.

2. Exactly what is not working with Windows Update through the Windows Firewall? This is a scenario that 10s of millions of Windows 7 PCs are doing every month, so it would be great to know what is different on your PC that is not working? Are there any error messages, what happens? Did any settings change in the Windows Firewall?

Thanks
Nathan
