795939 2009-07-28 11:28:00 I'll be very curious to see how those results compare to tests in 3 or 6 months time. Hopefully Telecom increases capacity as they take on more customers, to keep performance levels up. If I recall correctly, the Go Large plan started out OK, and then went downhill quickly as subscriber numbers went up.

Agreed, the honeymoon doesn't last long.

795940 2009-07-28 21:17:00 Does any other ISP's other than Telecom provide unlimited broadband? vims213 (15007)

Yes - there are plans for corporate customers where you buy a 10Mbit, 20MBit, or larger pipe, and have unlimited usage. However, the cost for those is VERY high.

795942 2009-07-28 22:27:00 I stuck with xnet even through the lull, but the last 4 - 5 months Ive had the highest speeds Ive probably had ever. I switched to unlimited up/down and kicks much ass.
I think at my end the lull was due to my modem/router as it eventually started disconnecting every 5 seconds etc but I got a linksys one now and it just kicks ass!

How much is it costing you in XNET Unlimited up/down?

795944 2009-07-28 22:31:00 I'm still on the original Go Large at home, since Big Time has been launched things have gone from bad... to great! For the first time ever I can load up a youtube video and watch it without having to wait for it to buffer. Speedtests around the country have jumped up by 2mbps on average, and web browsing on average is much snappier. Guess they must have lumped the old customers in with the new ones, with very satisfactory results! :D wratterus (105)
795945 2009-07-28 22:36:00 Just like Rob_on_guitar, but in my case the speed increase seemed to be over the last 3 weeks or so. Sustained downloads average around 300KBs, which is pretty good for my location at the very end of the "Last mile" (two of them).
This is rather fortunate, as I have used almost 20GB this month, trying various Linux distributions.
I like Xnet for many reasons, but the outstanding one is the quality of the staff.

What is it the different in speed between peak and off-peak times? Is it pretty slow speed during 9am - 11pm?

Pay as you go, I think my average is around $50 - $60 a month, as I transfer a fair bit of raw audio files around I really need the upload speeds.

At this stage not noticeably different - I know that will change though, and expect it to go back to what it was in the matter of a year or so, as more customers sign up for the plan. Let's hope I'm wrong eh!
