794282 2009-07-23 03:36:00 Yeah unfortunately for Microsoft there are apparently ways of getting around activation already... Chilling_Silence (9)
794283 2009-07-23 03:49:00 I don't see why they bother with activation, really. Agent_24 (57)
794284 2009-07-23 03:49:00 You don't *have* to use a key to activate windows;)

and Windows update still works...:D So you are downloading the operating system - illegally activating it -- very good. :groan:

Man I love it -- sooner or later it will turn around and bite where you sit.

This week alone I have sold over $2000 worth of software to replace on peoples PC's that have pirated installed.

Edited: make that $2700 - forgot one I got yesterday.

Personally I dont care if people have illegal software - nothing to do with me.

Seen MANY times so called Tech's helping out someone by putting on Illegal software then when the **** hits the fan they don't want to know.

794285 2009-07-23 04:03:00 If you want to do that sort of thing for yourself Blam, that's no one else's business. But please, PLEASE don't install illegal software on other people's PCs, it just causes more cost and annoyance in the long run.

There's far too many cowboy techs out there already. ;)

794286 2009-07-23 04:06:00 Again, following my "innocent until proven guilty", its not difficult to find out the latest news:
news.softpedia.com
and the Windows 7 "toolkit" has also been blogged about a bit too ...

I guess some news sites are better than others ;)

That said, installing illegal software is not a good idea, for many reasons, on your own PC OR others ...

794287 2009-07-23 04:08:00 I'll be downloading the RTM build of Windows 7 but only for evaluation purposes, but I doubt I'll buy it or Vista either (yet)

Going to stick with XP for as long as possible :D (of which my versions are legal)

Lets not come to conclusions straight away here.

I would NEVER install an illegal OS on a customers computer-because I know if I get caught I'd be in a bit of trouble:p

794290 2009-07-23 04:42:00 Im still keen to know pricing ... In the mean time, I'm drumming up support and emailing the family / friends whose PC's I support, gonna be a good time to get them to do a clean install (Asking them: When was the last time you did a backup? Never?), as well as a general checkup on a few other things ... Getting them all onto Avast Free (Im sick of McAfee security suite products like you wouldnt believe) and installing Chrome over IE for them too ... Heck the Home & Student edition of Office 2007 is super-cheap too, so I'm sure a few people would also be keen to do a nice big upgrade at the time:
pbtech.co.nz

Also a good chance to give some people a *little* more RAM too, but yeah :)

794291 2009-07-23 04:48:00 Why not Firefox over IE? Chrome is good but it's Google. Agent_24 (57)
