| 795912 | 2009-07-28 06:58:00 | Hi All. Is there a serious Genealogist on the Forum? If so would you give me a hand please? I have tried looking for two names in the 1901 &1911 UK Census & get no hits. I cannot believe that so I must be doing something wrong. Even tho' I can find other names. Would YOU look for me. please, & see what you get. Lillian May Green, b 1906+/-, Neath, Glamorgan. My Mother. Albert Green, b ???? Neath or Swansea, Glamorgan. My Grandfather who I know died in Gloucester when I was 4yrs old. There should be Father, Mother, two daughters. Lillian & Phyllis. Thanks PJ |

| 795913 | 2009-07-28 08:37:00 | Hi Poppa John. I tried to reply earlier but lost the connection. You can only get census up to 1901. Apparently to get a good return the census takers agreed to a 100 year embargo on info. to protect individuals privacy. So, you won't get the 1911 census until 2011. Go to yoyr local library who should have free access to ancestry. com and you should be able to search up to 1901. You will also be able to search births, deaths and marriages. I was able to get some of my family by googleing ie "Albert Green" Neath, use the other known address' as well as this might bring up info from trees that others may have been inquiring about. |

| 795914 | 2009-07-28 09:44:00 | I think I may be able to help a little, PJ. Much of the 1911 Census has been released, in spite of it being less than a century ago. But not all counties have been finished yet & it appears that Wales is later on the list. I haven't checked 1901 yet. What I find (via British National Archives, whose newsletters I get) gives the bare fact of whether the wanted subject is listed or not - then you have to pay to see the full info. Anyway, I'll see what I can do ... maybe send you a link via PM? |

| 795915 | 2009-07-28 10:35:00 | Thanks Laura. The 1911 was realeased, in part, for the feedback after the fiasco of the 1901. The 1901 was transcribed in India ( I believe). English was not their first language & dialect, local usage etc would not be available to them. Some months ago, Ancestry UK advised that Glamorgan had been added. I looked then & found nowt. Looking forward to your input. I realise that it is a Pay Site to get full info, but what I have got from both censii? previously has been enough. I am not likely to buy their credits. PJ |

| 795916 | 2009-07-28 11:23:00 | Sorry, PJ, got unexpected visitors, so have to stop looking for tonight now. But need more info to fine down what I have found in 1901- that is 14 Albert Greens ranging from birth years 1865 to 1900. Two were born in Neath, 2 lived there at Census time (not the same 2) & several overall were from some part of Glamorgan. How about a clue to his birth year? Or even a guess 5 years or so either way..? What about grandmother's name? Was your aunt old enough to be there in 1901. But just before I go - for tonight - I didn't find Glamorgan on the 1911 completed list I saw. And that was published info of 3/4 months ago. |

We are thinking of making a list, with relevant details, of both our Trees : & then justifying the Pound Sterling to look at the transcripts. Low priority at the moment as the car needs a lube & oil & tuneup. Badly. Which we are saving for. Not to mention the registration which is due in a couple of months.
